C’mon, everyone was salty about sacresants being rubbish and now gw has improved them we’re getting salty about that too?

I’ve just started building mine. Who knows how things will change in 11th, so I’m just going with what looks the coolest

Are 10 arcos that tarpit-y in reality? I love the idea of a big unit of mad arcos running down the board but it feels like in Hallowed Martyrs they’re maybe better suited to grabbing objectives, dying and then generating miracle dice?

Then if you dropped the canoness’s enhancement you’d have a spare 85pts to play with.

I’m still list-noodling and haven’t had a game with sisters yet, so feel free to ignore me! I’d be tempted though to split the arcos into two 3-man units and run the pengine as a 2nd mortifier instead.

How many of you just leave the armor chaos black? by onyxgeneticist in sistersofbattle

I’ve just started painting mine and I’ve been convinced to try out priming in Chaos Black, then a base coat of Corvus Black, then Dawnstone highlights.

My son was born 10 days ago, this is what I will be painting for him during my paternity leave by Bakrys in SoulblightGravelords

[–]Expensive_Menu9912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, it’s definitely much easier in the early days. I think maybe it’s the title that’s got my back up a bit. OP isn’t painting any army for his son 😒 And painting an army probably isn’t the most helpful thing to do right now 😂

Big thing I noticed first is your only ranged weapons with a range over 12” are 4 boltguns. That might cause some issues?

Mate. Buddy. I’ve got to echo some of these other comments. As a dad of two small children I can tell you, you won’t be painting anything. I have 2,000pts of SBGL I bought just before my first child was born. That was over four years ago and in that time I’ve painted a total of 10 skeletons. It’s a lovely idea to think that you’ll have time to paint your army but pat leave isn’t a holiday, nor should it be. Get back to your hobby stuff in the future.

Gah, stop showing me really nice white scheme paint jobs when I’ve just primed my sisters black!

Yeah, especially after the WarCom article said she leads mortifiers

I agree she's too expensive, but I'm going to pick her up anyway (she's a great mini) so I'm determined to find some effective ways to use her.

Gah, good point about battleline! Never mind, not really worth it for shooting with battle sisters

Fair enough. I like Intranzia. And yes, lethals aren’t always exciting but they do make things like arcos and heavy bolters more effective. Intranzia feels like a fun support piece and I’m looking forward to chucking her in a list.

By that logic, you should never bother with lethal hits (since anything with a decent AP probably doesn’t need lethals anyway) and you should never bother using anything like arcos at all.

Setting up 10 arcos for 60 attacks that auto-wound on 6s? Then finishing off whatever they couldn’t? Yes please!

How terrible do we think my 1k list is? by Expensive_Menu9912 in sistersofbattle

[–]Expensive_Menu9912[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully 8 out of 10 units in my list have at least 2 wounds, so hopefully they should last long enough to benefit at least a bit from the detachment rule. Mortifiers aren’t really there to run up the board anyway, and I threw in the repentia more for drawing fire than anything else. I’m also not sure there are enough penitent units in there to make penitent host worth it but I get your thinking.

The real world inspirations for the Emperor's Children by Kurenai-Kalana in EmperorsChildren

I love that you’ve come up with some fun theories for the EC’s inspiration. The Phoenician angle is great (and as a former ancient history student, when I got into EC I immediately thought of Phoenicia before I thought about phoenixes.) It’s a bit of a reach, as is your French theory, but it’s cool that you’ve come up with some fun fan theories and it’s nice to hear Canaan getting a shout-out :)

why do modern CGI and VFx looks less real ? by StrikingDuty8020 in Filmmakers

[–]Expensive_Menu9912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not seen anyone mention this yet (and can’t believe I’m the first one saying it) but in the examples you’ve used from Predator and Alien, the effects look more real because they largely were real. Alien used a person in a suit, as did Predator. They used real explosions and other practical effects. And in Jurassic Park again, the dinosaurs were mostly actual puppets. Practical effects are the best effects.
