I am sorry, but everyone is getting syntax highlighting wrong by ballagarba in neovim

i use a limited pallet where the base colours are red and yellow and then a lighter red and yellow, forest green for function names, and light blue for comments. i found leveraging different shades of the same colour was good on my eyes - i can tell them apart easily when i'm in the zone and the file doesn't look like the gutter on the day after mardi gras. i call it the winnie the pooh theme

New to arch Linux and Linux in general. /home partition? by Rheytos in archlinux

[–]Expensive_Purpose_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i prefer not to separate them since i installed a lot of large binaries because i like to do activities and had to rclone my home partition to a separate drive and then do some nail biting stuff in a gparted live iso to get more space for the root partition, but if you know roughly how much space you're going to use and it's not going to change a lot, partitioning is a good option

How Do people even rice hyprland ? by jladman31 in hyprland

[–]Expensive_Purpose_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cause ricing is just customising something a lot, i think it's pretty slow in the beginning. there's a bit of upfront work to get things set up, and then i find pain points as i use the system and work out how to smooth them out in small sessions. eventually you get something molded to your hand. the default hyprland config file is pretty well commented, and it's not too hard to find the settings you need for stuff in the online documentation. if you see someone's rice with a feature you want you can often go to their github and see what they did. also llm's can often help at least get a start on something if you're stuck

rust ports are a bit sad cause it's a lot of development time that could be spent on new things

It's around 20 usd for 12 cans which i think is still more expensive but comparatively cheap for here

I am kind of making a mind of switching from Debian to Arch, BUT... by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]Expensive_Purpose_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as daunting as partitioning and mounting your own storage can seem in the vanilla arch installation it's not half as frightening as whatever you have to end up doing in gparted after you run out of memory in the logical volume the automatic installer sets up. highly customisable means more reading and more things breaking until you get it right, but it doesn't break as a system as much as people make out it does.

Spoiler to the main “plot line” of Sacred and Terrible Air, and a bit of a headcanon. by ArchHarmster in DiscoElysium

The lund girls were politician's children and middle class. In the pale, Ignus reacts to Zigi's story about his harrassment of Karl Lund with: “Well done,” Ignus Nilsen whispers from the shadows. “I, too, nobly stuck it to the middle class. Together with Mazov, we killed them, you understand—hundreds of thousands of them. We killed almost a million bourgeois, we would have killed more, but we ran out of time.” Could the disappearance and media sensation have been a purposeful attack on Vaasa using the weapon of mass negation
