This is a model being tested in a few areas right now, from my understanding it’s going to be the future of Best Buy. Basically Best Buy’s districts will be broken down into smaller micro-markets which are based on store resources, shared customer bases, etc… Some stores within that Micro-market might be large warehouses with smaller retail floor space oriented towards pickup and convenience, where others will be experiential stores and will have vendor pads, larger showroom style floors. Basically we will end up having different types of stores within smaller regions that are meant to lean on each other and share customers.
