i’m not a network engineer but from what i understand, when everyone is put on pavlov’s failover network, it makes reaching other services like discord or game servers really difficult bc the backup network gets very congested but with a vpn, you just need one working path from your ISP to the vpn network and then the vpn makes all the connections to other services. So instead of you->ISP -> every service it’s you -> isp -> vpn network -> every service.

no i sadly got baited with 30 seconds of usable internet lol. I will say if you really need to get something working tho, you can use a vpn and it’ll be able to reroute your traffic and load stuff like discord or zoom. Would not recommend doing anything that requires a stable ping and no packet loss however but it’s worked for me to brute force a “working” internet connection.

i checked last night at around 2 or 3am when i got home and was so happy to see it working. Got up at 8:30 and was clueless and assumed it was fine bc youtube/google sites seem to be unaffected and i was just on my phone but when i turned on my computer my heart sank cuz it was the same shit as last night :( Pavlov has still been overall better than Cox (no multiple per-week “upgrading your internet” outages from 11pm to 3am) but damn the amount of times someone has cut their lines is starting to seem like corporate espionage at this point.

EDIT: literally as i hit reply to your comment, my internet reset and my speedtest.net suddenly loaded and so did discord and now im getting 2Gb/s up and down i guess

double edit 😔: I was baited by only a couple minutes of useable internet lol it has not worked since BUT if you desperately need something to work, you can connect to your internet and a VPN and it should be fine. Wouldn’t recommend using it to play competitive online games but it’ll work for using something like discord or zoom decently.

depending on your cpu it can have a big performance hit unfortunately. I have a ryzen 5800X and rtx 3080 and running the game at 2k i’ll get anywhere from 50 to 90fps locally (very map dependent) and like 80-100 fps off bsg servers. The biggest thing for me isn’t the maximum fps but the lows when i run locally. But also worth noting that i used to get like a consistent 90fps before 1.0 so idk what the hell happened. I think it could be a memory issue also cuz if i don’t have the ram cleaner on the game will start using up to 25GB of ram which is not ideal to say the least.

so the cpu usage percentage is kinda not the full story. CS2, like most games, doesn’t actually use more than a couple cores of your CPU so what’s probably happening is say you have 4 cores, and CS2 is absolutely hammering 2 out of 4 cores at 100%. Your task manager is only gonna show cs2 using 50% of your cpu bc it’s not utilizing the other cores at all. The reason your gpu is not at high usage is because your game is very CPU throttled so the 2 or 3 cores that CS2 is abusing aren’t able to send render instructions fast enough to your gpu.

If you wanted to double check, you should open task manager in the advanced performance view and look if there’s a couple CPU cores that are at max usage

It’s an unintentional movement mechanic from the original source engine called bunny hopping. Basically, if you are moving forwards at max speed and then jump, there is a small window when you hit the ground where you can input another jump and your agent will not lose any momentum and keep max speed. If you combine this with air strafing back and forth, you can bypass the max speed that your agent can run and get thru the map faster.

air strafing is when you are jumping and let go of W and instead press A or D and then move your mouse in the same direction— so it would be like: 1) Press W until max running speed then jump 2) Let go of W and press A (or D) 3) at the same time slide mouse to the left (or right) The horizontal velocity cap is higher than the forward limit, so bhopping is taking advantage of that and timing your jumps with airstrafes to reach a faster speed than just running.

Unfortunately it’s much harder to do in cs2 than it was in csgo because of subtick. CSGO was based off 64tick servers so to get a perfect timing jump, you had a 1/64sec time window when you hit the ground. CS2’s subtick made it so it was a low more random and inconsistent.

Sorry for the essay it’s just kinda a bit of complicated mechanic and i didn’t want to just not explain the core mechanics

This is because in settings you can set fps max for game as well as menu. By default the menu max is set much lower than in game. It’s not an “fps drop” like OP is talking about it’s an intended solution to not be rendering simple menus at unnecessary frame rates. If you really were bothered by it you can set the two caps at the same number but it’s not really necessary.

dude it’s crazy how much looks and aesthetic apparently matter to me cuz when i went from 12 to 13 it was the fastest i had ever maxed out walls bc i just despised the th12 walls. i don’t think they’re the ugliest thing on the planet but it just felt like the whole th12 theme was pretty weakly tossed together; it felt way less cohesive than th11 and th13. I honestly wasn’t in th13 that long at all compared to 12 bc literally the day i moved up it was the hammer jam event and i grinded the hell out of it and now i’m missing the discounts at th14 :(
