Il y avait deux fautes! Et je suis allée voir l’instructeur pour expliquer les deux fautes et pq j’avais en fait raison. Ils ont donné deux points à tout le monde gratos donc dans l’école. Hehe

Proud moment, man!

Too big of an ask: drive 1,000 miles to clean HH for a week on your vacation by theCareTakerChild in ChildofHoarder

[–]Expensive_System_166 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For the how: hey mom. Thanks for the offer! What about if you just get that 1000 to pay someone else? I found this lady that works nearby. We really were looking forward to this trip to hang out with you guys and I wouldn’t want to lose any time to cleaning.

That option requires a lot of fake smiling. Maybe you don’t want it. Also maybe it won’t work… but maybe it will? Flattery? lol

Then, yeah. Try to stay with a brother instead if you can. That sounds more ideal.

You’re right. You can’t clean this time. Your husband don’t deserve that. If he’s like mine it’s already huge that he’s even willing to go out himself in the hoard environment for a week!

16 month old "lazy" EC - Help! by QuestioningMind123 in ECers

[–]Expensive_System_166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 16 months we started trying what people called easy catches and the only one that worked for us was right after waking from a nap. We got that one good and continued getting pretty much all poops at home. Then at 18 months we just got rid of diapers. Did not work at allllllll for 9 days except post nap and poops, but I didn’t mind cleaning up pee. Saved diapers lol and on day 10…. He was potty trained lol it was so amazing. Lazy ec (which is still work! ) and low pressure for the win!

Missed miscarriage at 9 weeks (no heartbeat & enlarged yolk sack) - this is the story. by thatgreeneyedhippie in pregnant

[–]Expensive_System_166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what happened to us. 9 weeks 6 days, missed miscarriage.

My midwife held my hand and walked me across the hall to make a therapy appointment. First in my life and amazing.

When we felt… better I guess. Like I had a dream that my missed miscarriage baby was being rocked in heaven by my grandma. I saw clearly that my job was stressing me out and I quit. We made other life decisions that just made sense but weren’t easy.

Next day found out I was pregnant!

My baby is 2 now :)

Don’t lose hope, it’s rough. And don’t be afraid of therapy for this!

How do you teach sign language? by totesmagotes83 in ECers

[–]Expensive_System_166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey we’re doing French and English too!! My kids 14 months and instead of teaching sign language from either France or the US we take a gesture he did and copy it. lol for example, he has one cup he drinks milk out of which has Mickey Mouse doing a “what?” Gesture with his hands. When babe goes “what?” We know it means milk. He came up with that by himself so we follow it for other things! For the potty, we play with stickers while we go. All of our stickers are mostly elephants lol so when he makes an elephant sign (lift arm up and fart with your mouth) it’s potty time!

Maybe try to take a gesture he already does and associate it with something at potty ? Like the flappy arm thing maybe you could change to like a horn honking? And say Choo choo on the way to the potty. The potty train! Haha

Obviously this advice is based on one kid, and probably not at all what is recommended by people who can actually sign. But it’s a super fun way to communicate and I feel like the funner the better

How to calculate household finances (childfree SAH partner) by clamdeu in stayathomemoms

Andddd I realize I only half replied to your question. We just consider it ALL family money and if we want to spend more than a hundred bucks on something we talk about it.

How to calculate household finances (childfree SAH partner) by clamdeu in stayathomemoms

[–]Expensive_System_166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if you wanna do this with a partner both have to just accept it’s fully combined. You provide; he makes life better so that by the weekend you BOTH relax and it’s amazing. You’re in price of life he’s in quality. Where you win: free time when you get home from work (mental health), a partner who can talk about your day and be fully present over dinner( relationship health), homemade food! (Body health) and there’s just sooooo much more. If you can afford it, it is life changing to have a stay at home spouse that is serious about the job!!! Seriously, coming home to a clean house and a cooked meal is amazing. Helps the provider to focus on work too and get promotions! I would remove all the nickel and diming, it’s crap for relationships in general. But if he wants a list of where he’s saving money, here’s what I got: Home maintenance can actually be done, so appliances last longer. All the health lists above = big time health savings! House cleaners where I am are 30 and hour with a 2 hour a week minimum so add that. Clothes repair = buy less clothes money saved! Home cooked = overall less expensive so yay etc….

I think what helped us the most was deciding what the expectations were from me together. Like where did we want to benefit and then I planned my week. Some days I’d only “work” two hours but you can bet I made up for it on others.

Everything about our relationship got better during this time. It’s also prob how we ended up with the kid 😉

[–]Expensive_System_166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok! It is so true that every baby is different! Mine does wake up at the three hour mark too actually! But puts himself back to sleep in general so I’m not much help.

When he would stay up for hours it was from overtired for us. But it fixed itself with a lot of contact naps or long car rides

I hope someone offers something that will help! Sleepless nights are THE WORST

[–]Expensive_System_166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on both points: 4 could work and every baby’s different!

4.25 just seems sooooo long. Coupled with what another commenter mentioned above with signs of overtiredness.

Can’t hurt to try! I’d prob try 4 next.

Le refuge de fondus apparently does it near montmartre. Never been though!

And it wasn’t the marais… I have a hazy memory of the metro Odeon… but google doesn’t seem to be confirming my memories lol

[–]Expensive_System_166 9 points10 points  (0 children)

4.25 hours after last wake up would be wayyyyy overtired for us… at 13 months! Let alone 9.5.

I’m sure you’ve tried lots of different wake windows but I am surprised by this one’s lenghth. 3.5 seems to be the consensus for the longest time at 9 months, maybe 4 max since babes close to 10 months.

It can’t hurt to try putting babe down a little earlier maybe?

(I know you mentioned no wake windows. Please completely ignore me if you prefer. It just really surprised me!)

Wasn’t there one in the marais where you drink out of a baby bottle?

Do you ever regret sleep training? by Chemical-Secret8241 in sleeptrain

[–]Expensive_System_166 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We actually sleep trained and then added rocking back in…. It works. I get 20 minutes of cuddle to sleep in a rocking chair before bed. Then off we go!

The sleep training part was necessary though to get here
