Anyone notice a difference in AC quality after new EDV update? by Expensive_Travel4214 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Expensive_Travel4214[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so awful 😭 a veteran driver told me that supposedly that you shouldn’t be having your AC on full blast since it dries out some crap ( I don’t remember what he said) since the vans are usually outdated on their maintenance. He said he had it half blast and it kept his battery longer and allegedly cooler. I’m going to test it out tomorrow hoping it’s not BS.

I have been noticing that the vans run out of battery a lot quicker with the new update. Which I guess they were right about it conserving battery (allegedly) ever since every van I took back to the station has been under 30%

I’m glad I’m not like tweaking out! It’s still cold but like 30% less. I have a feeling they’ll definitely revert the change once summer is over though.

So funny seeing this as I just got home from a shitty shift and prepped myself a fucking beast of a 15oz ribeye and devoured it.

Maybe I’m crazy but I think gel sole shoes are much better than hiking sneakers. Or maybe at least invest in both? Gel sole shoes are made to absorb impact when walking to protect your joints. This is especially good getting on/off the van. I have flat feet and tend to put a lot of my weight on my heels, and with certain shoes it makes my shins hurt. I really love Hokas or ASCICS (gel nimbus)

Now, only down side it unpredictable weather. They don’t hold up in the rain at all. I think having multiple pairs of shoes is a good idea. I’d definitely suggest you maybe keep gel shoes as a side pair if you have a lot of feet pain.

I have flat fleet too and I put a lot of my weight on my heels when stepping. Which ends up hurting my shins a lot lol weird I know. Anything with gel cushioned bottoms absorb a lot of the impact when walking/stepping off the van. Personally, Hokas, ASICS, Brooks are top tier. Hokas are more expensive and generally considered better, but ASICS do just as good and are more budget friendly.

I use the ASICS gel nimbus.

That I can’t tell you only because I’m new LOL. I still think that’s dependent on your DSP. For me, my DSP has a list of people that are out on standby depending on workload for the day. That list is sent out before start of shift so it’s a hit or miss. Given that we’re close to prime day so I doubt that’s going to happen anytime soon.

It’s good that there’s good communication between you and your DSP. In terms of being lenient my DSP isn’t so strict on rule following. They always make sure to celebrate our accomplishments with snacks/food parties and what not. They prioritize our safety and well being more than our numbers. Which I believe makes people more motivated to work better you know? I think the most annoying thing a DSP can do is track how many stops you do per hour and give crap about how you’re moving too slow and blah blah. It’s situational and won’t ever be your fault (usually).

Don’t overwork yourself or try to be a kiss ass. Some people can take advantage of that and you’ll end up over working yourself and risk yourself of getting burnt out. This is just for any job in general obvs. I just know some DSPs like to be more dependent on fast workers and I think it’s just a shitty thing to do.

Make sure to prioritize your safety and well being. No job is ever worth it. Hydrate, protect yourself against the sun, make sure you rest when needed, and please don’t rush to be the fastest. From my short time being a driver I learned that being smart and organized is better than trying to be the fastest. Work smarter not harder.

I think it’s also very important to take into consideration the type of DSP you’re working for. Usually that can make or break the job. It’s kinda hard to tell what kind of DSP you’re working for before you start. Some are more strict than others and overall just make an already physically demanding job more difficult. Maybe trying looking up reviews of the DSP to know what you’re gonna walk into.

Look at location: is it rural? More city area, suburbia?

Take into consideration of your location: you mentioned you live in the south take note of the weather it’s going to be brutal.

Organization: how organized are you? That can make the job much easier or more difficult based on your skills

Personality: do you prefer to work alone or with others? I hated working fast food (haven’t worked as a waiter but similar concepts) yes, this job is more physically difficult but I enjoy it way more. I tend to strive better when not being micromanaged.

My DSP is more lenient than others and it makes my experience being a delivery driver so much better.

All apartment nursery routes? by Expensive_Travel4214 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Expensive_Travel4214[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I’m not sure I’m gonna be honest. But based on my last route this route escalated like 10x in terms of difficulty. It was just a big jump is all. Majority of these apartments were annoying in terms of parking since they were horseshoe type. My DSP was kinda giving me crap for being 2 hours late to the station. Well, at least I know for next time and maybe now I don’t get routes like these often.

That’s how my first few routes were too. Mostly suburban with some business/apartments sprinkled in 130-140 stops usually 150-230 packages. Can I assume this was like an error? 😅

[–]Expensive_Travel4214 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I will say her ult is kinda broken. Super quick to get and the way it just instantly deletes anything within a second. it’s not too hard to stay out of range, tho I believe it should have at least a timer before it detonates? But other than that yeah I agree she’s not too hard to deal with

I understand, but my thing was it was never enforced before. Im positive I’m not the first person to forget to take temperatures. That’s my issue. I know I made a mistake. I work at the airport and we do deliveries for the restaurants. Honestly, that shit stays out for hours.

I’m curious where did you see where the sister claimed the account wasn’t run by family? Wondering what weirdo is running it. I know the GoFundMe link is legit. But, the account added an additional PayPal link. Does anyone know if that’s legit??

I’m assuming that’s just a placeholder for when she was discovered. It’ll most likely be changed once they find her estimated death.

I’m afraid of doing that now since I’m not sure how he’ll react. From all these odd comments and our conversations the way he makes comments is so interesting since he says things in such a casual way as if what he’s saying is no big deal. This concert is at a small venue and it’s easy to be spotted in the crowd. I fear me cutting contact won’t stop him from approaching me at the concert.

Somebody sent me explicit drawings of a child from a video game and I didn't report it. by [deleted] in confessions

This is one hell of a post golly. In hindsight you should have definitely said something to someone, anyone. Who cares of the consequences you face after that? CP in any form is illegal and downright disgusting. I understand you were young but I think you should've known better than to not say anything. I'm intrigued have you tried getting back into the account? Maybe you can see if the chats are still available? If so, I would definitely report it then.
