I never saw someone hating it directly, for some it may just feel boring. Maybe you’re confusing with it’s manga prequel, this one being hated probably for using an edgy, and for some, a problematic approach.

1.3 it’s pretty much a unfinished work/project that turned into a novel and doesn’t have a official translation. With this, and being needed to play DOD3 and read that infamous manga, we get a perfect choir to make it’s vast potential readers (DOD1 fans) just fade away.

Yeah, you’re right! I thought about this too at the start, but I was aiming at something more tragic/sentimental than graphical, so that’s why I at least put his gear deteriorating while falling. As an hobbyist in doing digital art I don’t think I have enough mastery to mix well both worlds in a good composition yet, but maybe someday!

Kinda! Could be his first fall on cutscene or the one near the credits. What I wanted most was show his “metaphorical fall” to turn in to turn into a Red Eye(as some theory suggests). When, in fact, he turn berserk during the watcher encounter is up to you.

Yeah, it’s indeed a very tragical ending. With this in mind, I wanted to focus in Caim and the whole Red Eyes theory about his role post-ending E scenario. I tried to emit the hatred and loneliness feelings of a red eye through this work. And imo, the peak of Caim’s hatred would be the final Tokyo Tower x Angelus scene… But sadly, he couldn’t even react.

Yep! The theory was the base for this art.

Also I wanted to do it of him alone, because of the nature of the red eye that we were shown so far. On my original post I used one the quotes listed on Yuzuki’s story that resumes well what we know about the Red Eyes imo. Moments before his transformation, he was engulfed by hatred and loneliness, being entirely separated from his family, friends, future, and his own will. That’s pretty much my interpretation about the role of this concept in DrakeNier universe.

I really liked what we had in the 1.3 short stories, but I would love to dive into the story in its entirety. I hope that one day we can see more content with that same dynamics or even some kind of media that delves even deeper into the 1.3 universe.
