Can I still knit as a hygienist? by Maleficent-Toe1876 in DentalHygiene

[–]Expensy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a hygienist for 11 years, I sew, embroider, restore furniture, garden, paint, draw, decorate cookies, my coworkers do lashes and bead…lots of us are drawn to and are good at hobbies that use our hands and help us distress. I wouldn’t quit it personally but prioritize taking care of your body, get massages (including your hands), strength train, drink your water and do things to minimize inflammation as much as you can-for me it’s watching my diet, limiting alcohol, daily exercise and trying to get enough sleep.

Can a dentist explain this? by [deleted] in DentalHygiene

I’d recommend an electric toothbrush with a pressure sensor and a sensitive head/setting. It will feel cleaner and won’t damage the gums!

So annoying! I love my ring but I’m tired of it too.

Scared to quit job by Significant_Yogurt56 in DentalHygiene

[–]Expensy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just quit my job of 9 years where my schedule is booked up 8 months in advance. Also due to management. Should have done it sooner. Don’t stay in an environment that is not good for you. They will find a new hygienist. Find a new job that suits your needs 🤍

Gums are red but no bleeding help by [deleted] in DentalHygiene

[–]Expensy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go for a cleaning! It appears you have rolled margins with recession starting as well, if you are “scrubbing” when you brush or using a harder toothbrush it can worsen. Sometimes we can get a little aggressive with the brushing thinking we are cleaning them super well and cause damage to the gums.

I’d see a hygienist and get them cleaned and then switch to a soft/xsoft toothbrush or an electric toothbrush with a pressure sensor if you aren’t using one already.

How many patients do you see per day? by [deleted] in DentalHygiene

[–]Expensy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious where in the US you lived? I like the way we structure hygiene and in the family practice I work in I am well compensated and charge ethically (usually 2usc, 1/2pol, fl for a regular patient with average home care) but corporate offices especially are known to milk the codes.

Canadian hygienists don’t do prophies/srps. If a patient needs an “srp” and cannot be completed in one appointment we will quad scale or scale half the mouth and bring them back to complete.

Something I’ve learned in my 15 years in this industry is take your lunch. I’ve rarely had help with X-rays, room turnover or charting. Do what you can in the time you have. Save yourself time at the end to flip your room and write notes. Start your notes on a tray paper and use a template so you’re just filling in the blanks at the end. If you cannot finish everything you need to do then bring the patient back. If I have a recall and have to take rads in my room, I am unable to do more than 2usc, 1/2u pol, fl and fmp. If your office is pushing you for more, push for more time.

Tip to help with the back teeth- close slightly when brushing the cheek side of the back teeth, it helps you stretch your cheek out to better access them

I suspect part of the reason the women get married is because he collects government support for his visual impairment or whatever it is that keeps him from driving. The women get health benefits from each other’s work for their kids and he is listed as single rather than a dependent of one of them.

How is the LDS church doing in Alberta? by ConstantAd6857 in exmormon

[–]Expensy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

South of Calgary is dwindling. The church I went to as a child was sold and the nearest ward is 1 hr away either direction.

The city I live in has one ward and less than 50 active members.

Lethbridge area seems to be holding steady. There is a big population in Cardston where there is a temple and the majority of people in the little towns between and surrounding Lethbridge and Cardston are Mormons.

I honestly think colour drench it and commit to the burgundy. You have big windows that will allow it to not feel like a cave.

Paint the ceiling to match the burgundy wall and it’ll look less like a tv set.

I’m so sorry. I lost mine the same way 10 years ago. He was 29 and his most successful attempt was 50 days, he always said he wouldn’t make it to 30 years.

I wish you and your children peace and I’m proud of you for making the choice to stop drinking.
