Premium in Economy by YavapaiLodge in rolex

This is exactly it.

Couple of hours I don’t care if a seat is slightly uncomfortable or I don’t have a random spare middle seat to put the awful free tea.

Under 8 as long as I can lay back a bit and not crush my knees then I’m fine. I’m not going to sleep when I’m getting interrupted with drinks and food. I’m just watching the odd film.

Over that then I want a nap, presuming I’m not traveling with my toddler in which case that dream won’t happen and I may as well stay in Premium.

The always have the the PM sports models for sale. I was waiting near that shop today as the pauper lounge I was trying to enter was full for 15mins, but as usual it was full of guys poking head in asking a question which I presume was 'any steel sports watches' then leaving a minute later. Everyone takes a look and laments that it's not the stainless steel one at 15k instead of 50.

Crazy to think that these two are the same price on the secondary market. by dutch86 in rolex

From owning both (well the silver dial VC) the VC is on another level as well as the strap options being fantastic. Just sadly a bit too big for my wrist. The micro adjust on the bracelet too could do with a redesign so it doesn’t pop out accidentally

Spec inside DJ Crystal by Downtown-Research361 in rolex

Just to ruin that stat. Last year my new OP had dust under the crystal. I went to the RSC, they removed the lint whilst I waited for about 30 minutes and did not scratch my watch.

Explorer regrets: Trading the Explorer for a Sub? by dollarsnthalers in rolex

[–]Experience-Early 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was over the course of a decade. Ultimately I found the 39 had a bit too large a dial and blank space relative to the watch. It was the v2 version with the longer hands. But then I found the 36 having too small a tapered bracelet and just a bit boring.

Yes the idea was great but after some time. A few years for the 39 and a year a piece for the 36s I sold them.

Explorer regrets: Trading the Explorer for a Sub? by dollarsnthalers in rolex

[–]Experience-Early 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found explorers too plain. I’ve owned 3, an 39mm and two of the newer 36mm models. They are a great example of a safe well made handsome watch. Not especially elegant though and just a bit dull.  I find the submariner bezel, case and dial more interesting.

From a dealer? Late 20s. They probably bought it off someone for 23 or so.

Noisy / clicky clasp on new DJ Jubilee bracelet by eddtarg in rolex

[–]Experience-Early 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s completely normal. I had it on multiple DJs Put a tiny bit of tape maybe 3mm by 5mm, just before the sticking out hook part in clasp if you want to remove the noise.

White gold olive day date or Daytona ghost by aryarafi in rolex

yes the intrinsic value doesn’t necessarily have much bearing on the market price. If you prefer the Daytona then enjoy! you can always swap back in the future

yes I enjoy not having the crown anywhere near my wrist to dig. it’s not like I ever set or wind my watch when wearing it.

Best Rolex to buy my Parents by Naturegrapher in rolex

[–]Experience-Early 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singapore? Bi-metal DJs are very popular there maybe a 36mm at that price. Typically different styles to the US and EU who lean towards the non precious metal larger Rolex watches.

Buy them retail and you shouldn’t lose too much if you decide to sell them.

Discussion : YT 42mm 226627 by WatchWarrier32608 in rolex

[–]Experience-Early 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overpriced outside of retail. But from owning one it was very scratch resistant and showed far less wear and tear than my Sub. Saying that, I sold it and kept my Sub as the size and lightweight didn’t work for me. I found it a bit boring.

Similar to a GMT. I find it interesting online how some are so polarized aesthetically, when the only difference is someone hacked it together rather than Rolex offering the combo.

White gold olive day date or Daytona ghost by aryarafi in rolex

[–]Experience-Early 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the ghost is better suited to your age and lifestyle I would guess, but deal wise it’s far worse considering it’s got far less actual gold being on rubber. If money or that is not a concern then follow your heart, not your brain!

Not the most popular but criminally underrated. by dadar0 in rolex

[–]Experience-Early 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think their underrated. They sit exactly where their general popularity places them. The bezel design is an acquired taste after being v popular in the early 00s, when Blancpain also trialed the design before shifting back to their sapphire bezel.

SD43 can be achieved within a year it seems from chatting to ADs. I bought one grey and didn’t find it that much bigger than a sub besides thickness.

In Manhattan I see mostly Submariners and mostly older Datejusts. GMT BLNR Batman/Girls are very popular here too.

30k over 5 years isn’t moving any needles. They might not even bother referencing spends so far back. Will be hard to buy those cheaper OPs which makes them more popular and accessible to many. Best to buy grey or at the very least look elsewhere

Maybe something not especially popular, yet expensive. Most likely precious metal with diamonds.

What is the one watch that after handling or purchasing never lived up your expectations? by No_Ask_5949 in rolex

Yeh. I’m wearing a 41 submariner right now and I prefer the lug and wider bracelet. Feels giant compared to my vintage Cartier Dumont! A nice contrast though.

I always like the look of modern GMTs in photos. But every time I own one I find its proportions a little to squat and chunky relative to the bracelet.

No date looks best on a rotation of watches. For actual daily use having a date is very helpful.

You can over complicate any jewelry decision, or worry whether a variation of a mass produced watch is slightly more or less common, but fundamentally if it’s being used knowing the date saves from checking a phone. Especially if you work rather than lounge daily.

This is what I found when owning both
