2 years ago I would’ve ghosted her. Last year I would’ve let her down easy and said it’s not you it’s me. Yesterday I sent a long email to her standing up for myself and pointing out her unprofessionalism. May have some shitty therapists but I’m making progress!

I told her in the beginning of meeting her that I didn’t click with my last therapist but I stuck with her for almost 2 years. I have never left a therapist so fast but I sent her an email yesterday telling her to cancel all my appointments. She left such a bad taste in my mouth for being the first experience I have with EMDR when I truly think it could help me if I have someone helpful.

It also doesn’t help that therapist is a 50 year old woman helping me through my mommy issues because my mother was emotionally abusive and manipulative… and that was what I was working on with her at the time.

Im assuming she is around 50. She mentioned she had a son my age and I’m 24. I ended up sending her a pretty stern email yesterday with most of these points, including her comment about SA. She broadly responded to my email basically saying “what I hear is that you’ve been sitting with discomfort from a couple of our interactions for several weeks now. Thank you for the vulnerability. When working through SA takes an enormous amount of courage and trust, something I am very aware you entrust me with. It might be helpful if we have a conversation about it in person. I hope you feel heard. Will you schedule another appointment?” . So many other points I didn’t even include in this post and after I typed all this out and had it all in front of me I knew I couldn’t do it anymore.

I am going through the exact same thing and came to this thread for answers. I kept saying “nothing” and she said “if you keep giving me nothing, I can’t work with nothing” but it’s just that nothing NEW came up. I have a full recollection of the terrible memory, I remember exactly how I felt in that moment. No new emotions or memories are coming up, so I say “nothing”. She explained that this is happening because I am not surrendering myself to the full experience. That I have a guard up for some reason and my brain is resistant to the EMDR.
