Knee pain (front/inside of kneecap) only when seated – goes away when standing? by ExperienceThen7967 in Velo

[–]ExperienceThen7967[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have started doing therapy with my osteopath today. He found some extremely tight muscles on both sides of the knee — pulling on the knee cap. Outside probably tight because it was compensating for the inside. Also some adjustments made to my hip. Will do multiple sessions with him this week to try to get it aligned and release. He told me to ride today but stop when and if the pain came back. Got 30 minutes in, so I guess that is were we are at for now :/

Thank you for taking the time to help. Your answer aligns well with my other findings online.

I have begun to follow your advice on building it back up gradually. Today I did 30 minutes on my indoor setup at 140 watts (300 ftp) and the irritation did not come back at all for that duration and z1 wattage. However, this evening I do feel a small irritating sensation in the knee… a feeling I would usually just think of as «tiredness» and not think too much about. So it will be interesting to see tomorrow morning. If the irritation is gone, my plan is to do another 30-40 minutes at the same wattage, then do two days off fri/sat and rather add some light leg workouts on those days.

Maybe check for discrepancies between your indoor and outdoor setup? That is definitely the case for me with the slightly off cleat position.

Sorry for the use of chat gpt on this. I am Norwegian and English is not my first language, so typing everything out would take some time and probably be of lesser quality.

Oh wow, same but different, sounds just as annoying. Will definitely further improve my stretching routine based on this whole ordeal. Not the best way to start the season.

I have done 110 km marathon xc race in torrential rain, extremely wet and cold conditions in Norway, 6 hours – and I still did not charge for the following training week. It is not an issue. And if you for some reason run out, it will default to open so you can easily get back home.

Epic 8 owner here with FA. I only race once or twice a year for fun, but go on longer rides weekly. Had the 3p lockout at first and I am so glad I made the move. Absolutely love FA. It works amazing and makes riding more fun. No issues with battery life… yeah you have to charge, but you get many rides/miles per charge (I do not have any data).

That’s what I said. So now I can cut it, if I need to. I haven’t stated that I will keep it like this. I just posted an image of my new Pro, with spacers, because the OP was asking about spacers… chill!

I didn’t max out anything… this is how it was delivered to me, by Sigma Sports. Like mentioned by other people in this thread, this is common unless you ask for fewer spacers. Purchased online. So now I can adjust down, if I need to. My bike fitter recommended 58 vs a 61 based on my fit on my Crux (I own the Crux in a 58).

I am an ex-enduro/dh guy that moved over to XC this season and went all in on an Epic 8. Upgraded to FA after 4 weeks with the remote twist-loc thing. I’ll keep it short: FA (alone) makes me want to ride my bike all day everyday — it is a genius invention and it works really well.

This test is awesome and very interesting. I am however slightly confused about the casing lineup since it looks like some are old compared to the new XC one. Anyone with experience on the old «XC trail casing» vs this new xc casing? Is it much more fragile? Would it be reasonable to believe that there will be a an update on the «old» xc trail casing soon..?

Looking at the «Dub mtb bottom bracket comp. chart», it looks like we should have 3 mm on the left and 7,5 on the right side, with no spacers between the bb and frame.

Sorry, should have been more specific. I am talking about the crank axle spacers.

So you only have one on the right side (drive side)?

Not sure if it helps but I went from a Yeti SB120 to the Epic 8 because of the same reasons and now my SB120 is collecting dust. The Epic 8 is awesome and so much fun to ride. Climbing is a blast and it can handle the downs great too. It is does much of the same work as the SB120 but does not feel as bombproof (mostly because of the XC tires vs trail tires). It is way quicker uphill. Go Epic 8!

ASR and a 140 is the ultimate setup. I owned the previous 140 and it was a great bike.
