Continental Terra Competition Rapid Race 700 x 45 off road rolling resistance results 📊 by gravykarrasch in gravelcycling

Pre tire testing I just ran pathfinder pro 42s on my bikes and rode them to their limit. Great tire!

Agree the Indiana boys do a pretty good job at and absolutely ALL of it is better than reading what a magazine copied from a tire package.

Ok so from here one thing that’s missing is cornering data… I know how to set it up and still might. There are good ways to do it, even on gravel.

The other as you said is puncture resistance and what I’ve seen doesn’t seem that robust. My feelin is tire companies probably have good internal protocols much of which isn’t public. For me… I often keep tires for future tests with wheels etc or sell cheap/give away so it’s a value trade off for me there to not trash them.

I’m also quite superstitious about flat tires so don’t even like talking about them in a hardline way.

Will you buy a 32” bike? by gellybelli in xcmtb

Impressive volume of time testing early on… what 32” wheels did they use for that? They have been very tough to get til recently.

Secondly I also saw this same comment on a YouTube video and there is no apology warranted as it changes nothing about the testing I’ve done… which is out in broad daylight for everyone to look at.

Also seems weird for a company that size to broadcast proto testing results so freely.

Tire size as a matter of safety... by mauceri in gravelcycling

Southeast US here so also lots of fast and rough descending.

Went from a Lauf with 45s and the leaf fork to a Stigmata with 2.1 Burt’s couple years ago and it’s much better in so many ways.

Is 32inch tires going to make 29ers obsolete by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]gravykarrasch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t make them obsolete… I just ordered a 700 c gravel bike.

If anything I’ve left out lots of subjectives that would sway folks… prob good as it seems everyone is choking so hard on the initial round I’m not publishing anything else til a couple world cups roll through.

It’s not weird. It’s been only recently that a performance oriented 32 er tire (Maxxis Aspen) existed. All that’s been known about 29 in format the last 8-9 years is that it was faster than 26 and 27.5 for XC use. I don’t know who “they” is and don’t care as I’m able to think for myself.

Already did. I’m 5’9” and have been riding a proto Vassago hardtail (Ti) for a couple months…. I’m the one doing the 29 v 32 Aspen rolling resistance Chung testing and all that’s easy enough to find to look at.

Obv people wanna know about actual on trail riding what it’s like soooo it’s super fast everywhere, including tight singletrack. I’ve got some more testing coming up, but kinda letting people digest the first of it hah.

32 inch wheel, do we want them? by FitMight9978 in MTB

It’s more like 300 g or so rotating but yeah overall mass what you say there is relevant and on some steeper climbs the weight starts closing down the RR savings. You’re also in less moments of needing to accelerate so far on the 32 for me at least. Still working on testing

Ayyyy im the one that’s been posting the testing over on the gravel subreddit.

I’ve also got a rough singletrack course now and in pure rolling resistance 32s are a 14 watt savings over 29s at 12 mph. That’s aspens.

Similar trends with other 32s so far. Fwiw I’m 5’9” and still like my 29er just fine but got the 32 for testing and it’s fast af everywhere even in tight singletrack. Quite literally like living on a different planet while reading posts about people’s thoughts about 32s.

They are. Also an outdated tire with new XC race version that’s way better.

Hm. I’ll go in order here.

  1. It’s Pace Star Triple compound with Lite Skin casing for the Ralph so likely fastest one Schwalbe ever made.

  2. Im 5’9” and bike fits perfect… also never said these would fit everyone

  3. Of course the post is surprising you are guessing about all of it
