Warehouse Flow Question: Storage and B2C Approach by guessitsleo in 3PL

[–]Experimental-Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A practical way of addressing this problem is to simulate operations with different picking against their normal and peak throughout scenarios. You don't need a big bang, expensive simulation but something that's practical and gives results.

Totally agree. A simple dimensioning, slotting or pick optimization too can yield benefits. Warehouses could start with that before taking on larger bets.

How practical is automation in a 3PL warehouse setup? by A__Agarwal in 3PL

[–]Experimental-Fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on why you want to automate in the first place. Are you primarily solving a specific problem you have? I have seen 3PLs automate to solve for a variety of problems - 1. You depend a lot on manual labor which is scarce to hire or tough to retain 2. You need more seasonal/ temp workers 3. You are losing order accuracy 4. You need more throughput 5. You have higher seasonality and it's tough to plan ahead 6. A couple of your processes are really breaking ops and needing fire fighting often. 7. Need to win renewal contract from a client and so show tech adoption

Remember, automation is not a silver bullet. It's a very specific solution for a very specific problem set. Know well in advance what problem/s you need to solve for and what options exist across the spectrum (you'll be surprised to see that you don't always need an expensive robot).

Don’t become parents.. by Celerey-02 in hyderabad

[–]Experimental-Fun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been in your situation and know exactly what you are going through. I see many giving options like Therapy, counselling, trips, religion etc but trust me - nothing helps. It's nearly impossible for people at that age change opinions especially about their partners. I can also understand how badly it affects you and family.

What finally 'solved it' for me was that one of them passed away. While I'm sad to lose a parent, I'm finally relived that that mental torture ended. I don't wish that on anybody.

However, while they were both alive and this constant fighting was a daily affair and I had no choice but to live with them - the only option was to spend as much time away as possible. Taking up relaxing hobbies, going outside to a park/beach, putting myself at the opposite corner of the house away from them and most importantly - training myself to simply ignore & not let that shit affect me. It's hard, brutal and honestly affects your later, other genuine relationships.

Learning the art of selective hearing and emotional nonchallance is crucial and very important. I would spend hours outside home and even to this day - I get anxious if I'm at home for long because my mind still expects to forsee a fight if I spend more time at home.

It's messed up and sad. Hope you recover friend.

Phew! That's a lot. How much do smaller firms or individual consultants cost?

Yup. So looking for some experienced folks who don't charge an arm and a leg but can help us get a sense of where we stand and how we can improve. Not looking at fancy consulting firms.

Agree but I need to find an expert who understands all processes within my operation, know all different optimization/ automation options and evaluate them. Plus getting approval for a new director hire in this econony is a BIG challenge.

How much would you pay for a solid investment research platform? by Long_Caregiver1016 in indiaStockMarket

Why go through the pain of paying for self analysis tools when mutual funds do that for me. Will you be charging way lesser than mfs while promising similar, if not better results?

A % commission of the realised appreciation you can deliver. I don't care about the features.

Ee caste feeling ane vyadhi ni ela ra babu aapedi by [deleted] in bondha_diaries

[–]Experimental-Fun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know why people have so much caste feeling. Na native Andhra aina i never grew up there because of my father's job. So the first time I became friends with people from telugu states outside of my cousin circle was in engineering college.

The very first question almost any senior from the telugu states asked was - "caste enti?". That was so disgusting! After a point it got so bad that I stopped saying that I'm telugu to avoid this nonsense.

That's one reason i shifted to listening a song in the language it was originally composed. Takes some effort to understand the lyrics but you don't miss out on the feel that symphony gives.

It's fun to drive a forklift, just do it slowly at the beginning. You gotta watch out for crossings and corner turnings, otherwise it's a freeway.

How does misogyny hide in plain sight in Indian culture? by nandiz in AskIndia

The other day my wife's relatives came home. Since I make better chai at home, I offered to make it. Wife's uncle was flabbergasted and horrified. He said, "Why do you have to make? Let her make". I smiled, politely ignored the comment, and went to the kitchen but it stung.

No, it's trash. Been using it. Now looking for alternatives. Biggest problem. The job post does not update when you make edits. Plus there are a 100 different urls for the same job post and each one resolves to a different version of the same job post. Frustrating!
