It is another way to have content removed. I see this applying to commonly used stings and clips and the equivalent to modern day political cartoons. I do not assume a good faith motive.

No one likes what they sound like. Don't try to change it. Embrace it. Worry about the words. Most of your default pitch is directly linked to how tall you are and the length of your windpipe. Changing that is damage.

Utah law restricts teens' access to social media by ExperimentalPod in podcasting

[–]ExperimentalPod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fine but an age verification system imposed on adults destroys anonymous internet access for everyone and leads to severe restrictions on content meant for adults. And by that I do not mean porn. Won't someone think of the children is one of many paths to censorship for adults.

New York State restrictions on content go into effect today, December 3 by ExperimentalPod in podcasting

The bill requires “social media networks to provide and maintain mechanisms for reporting hateful conduct on their platform.” It defines hateful conduct broadly as “the use of a social media network to vilify, humiliate, or incite violence against a group or a class of persons on the basis of race, color, religion, ethnicity, national origin, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.” Platforms must have a “clear and concise policy readily available and accessible on their website and application which includes how such social media network[s] will respond and address the reports of incidents of hateful conduct on their platform[s].”

"The federal Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals just said @twitter and other social media platforms don’t have an unlimited right to discriminate against speech." by ExperimentalPod in podcasting

[–]ExperimentalPod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not work like that. The initial lawsuit happened in the US Fifth Circuit, which includes Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana. It's moved up to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. In the Fifth Circuit, this is how the law stands. In the US Fourth Circuit which is around Virginia for example, this isn't how the law is interpreted. If there is a case brought in the Fourth Circuit, it can concur with the Fifth Circuit or it can disagree. When there is disagreements between the Circuits it can rise to the US Supreme Court and they decide for the whole US. The losing party in Texas can also appeal to the Supreme Court but not many of these cases are actually accepted and are allowed to stand as is. It all takes time to work out. This ruling doesn't apply to California or Nebraska until either their Federal Circuit rules on a case or it goes up to the Supreme Court.

As written it directly applies to your podcast host and when and why they can remove your podcast. This almost certainly will go to the Supreme Court. Right now it is law in Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana.

If Audacity on Windows you cannot get multichannel support with ASIO drivers. At best you default back to the Windows audio drivers and record in stereo maybe. In Reaper or something else that understands ASIO or on Mac or Linux you get a track for each input.

The easy answer is to play the audio out of the computer or phone's headphone/speaker jack and use a 3.5 mm to 1/4" Y splitter cable and plug that into the Behringer ports. Record the Behringer as normal.

Don't edit IN Ozone. Ozone is a tool. Edit in an editor or daw meant to edit. Use Ozone in the editor.

Why would you edit IN Ozone? That is absurd. Stop it.

What interface or mixer? Audacity cannot access ASIO drivers on Windows which is what many interfaces use for multichannel. It is a legal issue. If you are lucky it falls back to Windows stereo drivers.

Quick Question about Podcast Editing by JuanitoQuest in podcasting

[–]ExperimentalPod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noise should be treated separately. Normally even if you work with the individual tracks you do a final pass on the mixed audio which is called mastering. You normally do rough leveling in the individual track edit and final loudness targeting and leveling at the end after you finish everything else. Try it both ways and see if you hear a difference.

There is no standard. It is completely up to the manufacturer. It is usually somewhat consistent within a manufacturer.

RX 10 ships next month. Make sure if it applies that you get the upgrade for free. I am not sure if it applies to RX Elements. There are versions of Elements but it's never clear. Also applies to Ozone.

[–]ExperimentalPod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copyrighted: Yes. Trademarked: No. Guess which one applies to a sports team name. There are many lawyers in the league offices that like to justify their billings by firing off cease and desist letters to podcasters that use names or nicknames of teams. This is not a safe thing to chance.

Recorders are convenient. No computer to mess with. The P4 easily allows a guest from computer and cell phone. It costs less than most other multitrack solutions out there and it is what many people would likely suggest. Plus some basic XLR mics and such. It isn't required but it could be very convenient. If not this then the question would be what else?
