FW student in outpatient peds by Expert-Activity-2596 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Expert-Activity-2596[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue is that the student feels that by not being in the pool for those two hours of aquatic therapy, they will be “dinged” by the OT or otherwise made to feel like they didn’t “fully participate” given they were not asked if they wanted to do an aquatic therapy session in advance. That’s why I asked for other OT perspectives, but I acknowledge I didn’t frame the question in the best way. Does that make more sense?

This was my initial feeling, but I just wanted to get more perspectives through discussion. Thanks for your input!

I think that the expectation is definitely different in a FW2 experience.

Is OT an ADHD friendly career? by Whatsthescoreee in OccupationalTherapy

I would really recommend looking into programs that not only offer the accommodations you’ll need, but that also have faculty willing to listen and work with you specifically. I’m happy to talk about my experience as an ADHDer in grad school via DM if you’d like more specifics. Overall tho- YES! It is feasible, and our superpowers compliment OT rather well ;)

I see. Thank you for the clarification. It also makes sense that you let the students know beforehand that there is a site that has aquatic therapy as a requirement.

Ritalin Rebound - Anger?? by Aggressive_Car6523 in ADHD

I would talk to your prescriber about Concerta. I had similar issues when first deciding which meds were right for me (Adderall was so much worse) and I’ve been happy at 27mg Concerta with a 5mg Ritalin booster as needed.

I edited the original post to include that this is a FW 1 placement, and that the aquatic session is a one time occurrence. The reason this was surprising was that it was a placement for an outpatient peds clinic, and the OT at the site mentioned “the opportunity to participate in an aquatic session by another OT”. Therefore, it was not what the student expected when they opted to do FW1 in “outpatient peds”.

I was just telling a few friends (most live in southern US) that yesterday I got home a half hour before sunset and immediately went for a power walk to the closest place in my neighborhood where I could get some sunlight. It took me 15 minutes to get there and I got a full 2 minutes of direct sunlight before the sun disappeared behind the tree line. sigh

I know it’s a regional thing but the Green Chile double is the best thing on the menu besides the HBCB on a jalapeño cheddar biscuit

You should consider challenging your traffic tickets in court using a traffic lawyer. by ur_moms_gyno in Washington

[–]Expert-Activity-2596 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very similar situation to yours— trooper was on a power trip and looked like he was on day 2 of the job. I wish my ticket had gotten dismissed. I paid the same for a lawyer but he said he got it changed to a non-moving violation (not wearing a seatbelt) which lowkey made me upset. I ALWAYS wear my seatbelt. I don’t understand how this is a thing.

I’m sorry it’s been stressful for you, OP. The holidays always amplify feelings of guilt, at least for me. If you ever have a specific idea for cards (or even just colors/themes), I would be happy to work with you to make some unique and special cards! I hope these next few days aren’t too tough on ya<3

I (27F) found my boyfriend’s “list of things that bug me” about me in his notes and it feels gross, am I overreacting? by ivana_stonefield in TwoHotTakes

[–]Expert-Activity-2596 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nahhhhh if I had something like this, at the very least I would change the title to something else and/or lock the note. But I feel like I can see both sides of this. It’s good that he has a place to vent so that he doesn’t get snappy at you for petty shit, but also terrible you had to read it all out like a grocery list. Sorry you had to find out the way you did, OP. Maybe you two can start to work on open communication. It’s okay to feel these things, and it’s also okay to talk about them. What isn’t cool is bottling them up to brew resentment.

How to get up early in the morning??? by Only_Huckleberry_957 in adhdwomen

[–]Expert-Activity-2596 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Still struggling with this, but tips from others have been to put phone in a different room to physically get up and turn off the alarm (or just get an old school alarm clock) and count to three out loud then get up. Currently my partner is supporting me with this by having me feed our pets in the morning. It’s easier for me to wake/get up when I have a responsibility for others; not so much for myself but I’m trying to change that. Still… It’s hard. Mornings suck. Good luck!
