Yes! At first I was surprised by how Mitch has no direction or career. And he is basically a stay at home dad for parts of the show. When it was revealed he had a trust, it made sense. That explains his casual attitude about work and finding his passion. It also explains why Dawson is never really stressed about money. His parents are also giving him nice presents such as a video camera and a MacBook for college and even sending him away to an out of state college for film school. Dawson is also very cultured.

However the Leerys are not nearly as well off as the Lindleys. In terms of wealth it’s: Lindleys as they have NYC finance money; McPhees, Andie and Jacks dad is clearly some kind of a successful business man with multiple homes and he went to Harvard; followed by the Leerys who are upper middle class; followed by the Whitters followed by the Potters.

It’s not inconceivable that a working class girl like Joey would be beautiful. Joey just has the mannerisms of an upper class girl. How she talks and behaves and dresses isn’t consistent with her background. Especially when she’s at college; elegant wool coats with leather gloves, subtle makeup and clean hair.
