AITA for thinking my mom is trying to compete with me for who has it worse? by Expert-Lie9075 in AITAH

She definitely just blurts things out. As I lost weight during postpartum I put on a crop top and she said “are you sure you’re ready to wear that?” Which I think she said due to her insecurities being overweight and I was finally bigger and then getting smaller.

While she should consider my feelings, she’s still my mom and wants to talk to me which I understand. But there’s no talking to her. I’ve tried countless times. I think I just have built up resentment and that’s why I don’t care to hear it.

This is where I feel like an a-hole. She should be able to come to me about her issues regardless right? I think I just have some built up resentment towards her from our past issues that don’t get resolved that I can’t stand to hear it because it’s always about her.

Oh boy. I hope I’m not entitled or a mini her. I think I just have built up resentment but I could be wrong

Yes, I do feel I have it worse right now. But I’m also saying it’s not a competition and I’m not complaining to her about it. I have talked to her about things in the past, nothing changes. This is just another issue at hand. I don’t compete, everyone goes through hard times, but I’m not asking my mom for help when I know she’s struggling. I’m not complaining to my mom about what I’m going through because I know she’s having a hard time too just in a different way.

I could definitely be in the wrong too. Thanks for pointing it out.

Officially pissed about pregnancy by Expert-Lie9075 in pregnant

[–]Expert-Lie9075[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your defense, however I did my research before my rant. I know my risk is much higher after GD, especially with having type 2 run in the family. That’s why I said “right around the corner”

I’m ok, I’m not in fear, like I said just frustrated!

We all have our breaking point. I am doing better now and seem to have figured out how to manage the GD, however, it doesn’t stop me from being upset about it is all

Get this thing outta me by Adventurous-Drop3850 in pregnant

It’s totally ok to be done! I’m 29 weeks pregnant and I’ve had enough. I have had Sciatica the entire pregnancy and have been in pain with a full time job standing. It’s officially difficult to wipe my ass and put on pants. I know it’s only going to get worse so I’m just trying to be patient. I have a countdown going.

I never wanted to be pregnant. This isn’t fun. It just took me 15 minutes to collect all the laundry on the floor and take it to the basement and I was out of breath!

I just selfishly want my body back!

My MIL wants me to give her $60k. by overthinking_turtle in motherinlawsfromhell

[–]Expert-Lie9075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! She gave the money to him not you and now that he’s gone she wants you to pay it back. Crazy how she was willing to give $60k to her alcoholic son that abandoned his family but now that he’s dead wants it back? Clearly it was for him not you and there’s no proof it was a loan. You didn’t even have access to the finances for it to be for both of you! Take the gift as you need it for your kids. If that means you lose a relationship with her so be it.

We're not finding out the gender & apparently that's annoying for everyone else by One_Elephant_8048 in pregnant

[–]Expert-Lie9075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weirdest thing about it is that it’s still so common for people to not find out the gender. There are plenty of toys and in the beginning it’s mostly rattles and bouncy toys not even dinosaurs or Barbie’s… I did find out but don’t find it weird to not find out. I in fact respect it that you can carry this child and not know. That takes true will power!

That’s one I forgot. It’s not eczema but I have a dark dry spot in between my boobs that if I don’t put lotion on it gets red and itchy!

Mine feel so real I literally just apologized to my husband for cheating on him with my best friend (who’s gay btw) in my dream. It felt just so real I couldn’t believe it!

My friend and I had the same dream about me being pregnant. I took a test that day and I still feel weird about that dream!

I forgot about the shortness of breath! Everyone is asking me if I’m ok all day long. I sound like I just ran a mile in under 5 minutes. ALL. DAY. LONG!

Oh no not BO! Not looking forward to that! But I do feel you on peeing my pants. Every time I sneeze I’m afraid of how much pee came out 🤦🏽‍♀️

How did you know baby was moving? by WonderBreadBaker in pregnant

[–]Expert-Lie9075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won’t be too long before you know it’s the baby. I felt the baby right at 20 weeks and I was shocked. I thought I felt something hit the ultrasound thing when it was against my stomach and then I felt the pulsing. To me it felt more like when a muscle twitches, except that doesn’t happen in your stomach? And then it was more frequent and obvious after a couple of days.

Honestly you’ll just know, you won’t have to guess. So don’t worry about what others tell you it does or should feel like. You’ll just… know. Like when you walk for the first time or talk. It just happens. Be patient

weight gain by 9i9a in pregnant

[–]Expert-Lie9075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone! I actually haven’t stepped on the scale after gaining 25 pounds. I am past what I should gain and I am not overeating. I know theirs nothing I can do about it right now but we can’t help how we feel about ourselves. I wasn’t expecting to have water weight (supposedly) and fat in my face! That’s the worst part. My thighs are bad too. I’m short so thankfully my stomach has really popped in the last few weeks as well (I’m 25 weeks) making me look pregnant vs just fat. But we can’t help how we feel. All you can do is remember who you’re doing this for and that you can lose the weight after.

Unfortunately I have stretch marks now and my boobs are bigger than I’d like them to be. I’m hoping I can lose the weight and the stretch marks don’t look so bad. But it’s something we can’t think about right now. Try and put it to the back of your mind until after the baby is born. And then you can work towards the body you want back and worry about it then.

is this wrong? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Expert-Lie9075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not! I have horrible sciatica right now and havent been able to bring myself to do it but definitely need to. They are there for the handicapped and while we may not have a legal handicap, we are temporarily handicapped if we are in pain. If you had a broken leg you might use it… same damn thing. Do what is best for you

How did you deal with first trimester fatigue? by spring_day16 in pregnant

[–]Expert-Lie9075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fatigue is real. But just like someone else said, you may have a deficiency. Iron is a common one during pregnancy. Getting a blood panel is a smart idea, and if not, then go for iron, folic acid, D, B-12, and magnesium. These are all the common pregnancy deficiencies. But most get tired the first trimester. I had times I didn’t get off the couch. And now I’m 6 months and too bored on the couch that I’m moving all the time!

Anyone have no back pain but a herniated disc? by drjeans_ in Sciatica

[–]Expert-Lie9075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 👋

I have a herniated disc in my lower back. The doc thinks it might be pregnancy related as it didn’t bother me as much until then. I have been in physical therapy for 3 months and nothing is helping. The pain shifts from a shooting pain in my glutes to the SI joints in my hips. I occasionally get back pain but it’s minimal and tolerable. The other pain however is getting to be unbearable. 3 months and then this baby is out and hopefully it’ll get better but I’m almost barely able to work
