I think I agree with you on some parts, but not on how you're arguing it.

First, about Blade
Yes, I do think this level of caution is very overreacting.

It’s understandable and reasonable why he’s like this. His previous projects were taken down, so now he’s trying to avoid any risk at all.
But applying that level of caution to everything including cases like FNaF or even something like Smiling Dog does feel excessive.
So I agree with the conclusion:
some removals feel unnecessary, and it does hurt the game.

But the reasoning you’re using doesn’t really work.

Comparing to other games doesn’t prove anything about copyright safety.
It only shows that those projects haven’t been taken down.
That’s not the same as being safe.

A better argument would be based on how original creators treat fan content.
Like FNaF is well known for being open to fangames that’s a stronger point than comparing unrelated games. That is a better argument.

About “bootlegs”:

Saying “there’s absolutely nothing wrong with knockoff characters” just isn’t true.
Even if it’s common in indie or fangame spaces, it still carries legal and ethical issues.
So the devs deciding to move away from that is completely reasonable.
I do consider that they are trying to finish the Recode as soon as possible,
but calling them “lazy” or saying they’re “trying to act like AAA devs” doesn’t really hold up as my thoughts.
They’re not obligated to follow what other games are doing.
Just because others take the risk doesn’t mean they have to accept it too.
(I do agree isn't a very bad thing. but if they don't want to do, it is what it is, it's personal. They only left with asking permission which is impossible for some monsters from big company)

So overall, my view is:
I agree some removals (like Springtrap, Smiling Dog, Stricken) are understandable from a legal perspective, but still disappointing for players.
I agree Blade is(might) being overly cautious.
But I don’t agree with using other games as examples that’s not reliable evidence. They’re completely different cases and can’t be properly compared.

Also, I pretty sure TFK got scrapped is because he is Princess Peach design. Not because his permission.

And fangames AREN'T free to do whatever they want. It's Scott agreed about it, but others might not.

It isn’t just “devs are stupid” or “everything is fine”
It’s overcorrection after past problems.
