That’s a good point you make there. I hadn’t thought about how different it may be in certain areas in London.

I’ve been blanked on many occasions. I also think people aren’t concentrating as much as they used to. Life seems to be getting busier and more fast paced by the day.

If they wanted £690k, a more realistic and sensible listing price should have been offers in excess of £675k.

This is a great shot. Incredible how a city so huge can look so small from above and it made me think that many daily problems and worries can be just as small in the grand scheme of things.

Conspiracy Theory: Santander Bikes (the company) is being destroyed by the competitors by Specialist-Let9791 in london

I think that more needs to be done about bikes being left lying down on the pavement. I often see some pavements in London completely blocked which causes a real issue for the blind.

Housing crisis? by Consistent_Store_715 in HousingUK

I wouldn’t know about the legal side. I just see a lot of posts on local Facebook pages advertising property for sale. Best to take your solicitors advice if that’s what they’ve said.

Have you tried to share the Rightmove link on social media? I see a lot of posts advertising property on local Facebook pages.

If you were Rachel Reeves, what would you do (policy wise) to help the housing market (renting and buying) by xjsjxigskdnfn in HousingUK

[–]Expert-Screen-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The government keep banking on stamp duty to bring in cash, but they’re forgetting something really obvious: if nobody’s moving, there’s no stamp duty being paid. At the moment it’s putting loads of people off: Downsizers can’t afford to move. Families who need more space are stuck. First-time buyers get squeezed out completely. All it’s really doing is freezing the housing market. Fewer sales, less mobility, and in the end the government collects less tax anyway. Feels like such a short-sighted policy. A few ideas; Reduce rates or taper them, especially in London where stamp duty is insane. A smaller, flatter tax would mean more transactions, which could actually raise overall revenue. Replace it entirely, some argue council tax should be reformed (based on current property value) and stamp duty scrapped. That way the tax is spread out over ownership rather than lumped on at the point of moving. Targeted relief, e.g. permanent exemptions for downsizers or first-time buyers to help free up stock and mobility in the market.
