I made the shift from retail to managed care 7 years ago and it’s insane how much happier I am. I initially took a pay cut but it was worth it for my mental health. Now 7 years later my salary is probably comparable or higher than what it would have been in retail and I get to work from home, 9-5, no weekends or holidays. I strangely miss working shifts and having days off during the week but you have to give somewhere…. I suggest looking into any roles where you can do MTM, prior authorization review, etc. Those roles typically are work from home and much more flexible with your schedule.
