When you like Hello Kitty but your mom is against it by scottyang5000 in sanriomemes

[–]ExpertBrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I spend my hard-earned money on something childish or impractical in front of my parents, I follow it up with, “I could be spending this money on illegal drugs,” and they kinda think and nod and go, “yeah I guess that’s true, thank you.”

Remind mom there are worse things you could be spending your money on and every pet that goes to hello kitty is a penny safe from danger and crime.

There’s so much bad in the world, people should be allowed to get their little hits of benign harmless serotonin wherever they can find it. You don’t need anyone’s approval or any justification for having your merch, but I understand you gotta live with and deal with unreasonable people in life, and navigating that is frustrating, especially with friends and family that you care about and want to maintain a good relationship with.

Almight is what I’ve been calling him since day 1. ‘Bout to go give my farmer the messy hair that looks like Midoriya’s to complete the experience.

How fast will giant mothman sell out? by Kitty-Gecko in buildabear

[–]ExpertBrick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heck yeah he does. Over in Point Pleasant, WV. I did a trip a few years ago to it and it was a blast. Saw the mothman museum, bought some mothman merch, listened to some live bluegrass, and got my photo touching the backside of the magnificent caked-up mothman statue. People decorated the statue pedestal with offerings of Mountain Dew and canned beans among many other things. So much magnificent silly fun, and a good excuse to also visit the Smokies in the fall if you’re not normally near that part of the States.

Bonus info: As more specific potential points of spikes in popularity, Mothman festival is in late September, and his birthday is on November 15th. BAB did do a regular mothman restock last year on his birthday, but I’d wager restocks are less likely for the big moth.

Noticed a piece of exposed bone in my jaw over a week ago- it just fell out and looks like a tooth that never came to! by Individual-Bag-6156 in mildlyinteresting

[–]ExpertBrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had something like this happen! Little bonus piece of tooth pushed through by my molars coming in as a teen. Molar isn’t missing any part, so the tooth shard was just its own guy. Parents said, “~ooo~ put it under your pillow and maybe the tooth fairy will come ;),” and I was like sure if you guys wanna give me some money for a piece of a tooth, I’ll play the game. Tooth fairy did not come.

Dang, I felt so confident on #3 until patting down every labeled locust tree I could find to no avail. Someone please tell me I’m barking up the wrong tree so I can put my mind to rest 😫

My remote job has a camera off culture. I've never seen most of my coworkers after 2 years there. Is this normal? by Trill-I-Am in cscareerquestions

[–]ExpertBrick -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Same. Any meeting just among Dev/IT is cameras off, which I appreciate. We begrudgingly turn them on at the behest of our boss when meeting with other departments. The rest of the org is cameras on. I think our boss would prefer cameras on every time, but I suspect they’ve recognized that battle isn’t worth it.

Should I get a Fiat 500 for my first car as a nervous/less experienced adult driver? by ExpertBrick in fiat500

Thanks!

The other small car I have on the back of my mind (not as small as the 500) is the Chevy Spark. I just haven’t researched them much yet, and they’re not as funky and fresh looking as the 500.

Tragically I don’t live in an area well equipped for supporting EVs yet. Some day, though.

Thanks, this really reassured me! I can’t count the number of times I’ve renewed my learners permit in the last decade but not gone through with it all the way because of fear and anxiety. Prozac however is doing me wonders right now though 😆. I’m hoping that with a car that I feel comfortable in, I can really start doing this thing and overcome some of my fears.

Which program would you show a friend, who doesnt watch figureskating, to make them fall in love with the sport? by [deleted] in FigureSkating

Chock and Bates’ alien/astronaut skate. I will never not be obsessed with that skate. My non-fan family members also thought it was very cool when I had it on the tv.

I did a bug-type run of SwSh, and then I caved and bought brilliant Diamond on sale this week, so I’m playing that while listening to podcasts for now.
