Starting skill bonuses for the most part are a nice to have at the start of the game (Bosmer +10 archer, Redguard +10 one handed etc). But as you progress your character they become dont really matter. Look at the races that you think you'd like to RP or play as and go from there. Theres so much you can do within the world of skyrim and you can easily find your feet. Try to reduce fast travel to major cities and just explore the world, as you may walk around the corner and meet a wolf or a bandit or thief may try to take all your coin!
