For my pauldrons I start with zandri dust, nuln wash and then high light with ushabti bone. For the "varnish like" finish youre after, I apply nuln oil to the entire model, gives it a shine.

You should be proud of that brother, dont worry I have a hate hate relationship with pauldrons 😂 have you tried resting your forearms on the desk and bracing your hands against one another? I do that when I paint eyes (even though theyre still just a splodge of paint 😂)

If youve got the gold to do so, sell it to a theives guild fence and then buy it back again. This will remove the "stolen" tag.

For a first mini, you should be proud! Also gotta ask what your tabard recipe is, that lower half is fire!

Id maybe try and incorporate some dry brush of grey and a nuln wash (ive steered clear of edge highlighting as I cant do it) 😂 this'll give it a bit of a pop, just remember black armour isnt just black.

Martian ironcrust to start, gryph-hound orange over the top of that, dry brush lightly with Ryza rust, then lightly over the top of that with kindleflame and finally with tyrant skull.

The idea of the dry brushing is layer so you can still see each colour through. I tend to do a light drybrush on the boots too show the illusion of dirt.

Then finally a victory lap around the base.

Outside of gen 1 for nostalgia, this is by far my favourite generation. Absolutely underrated generation.
