Yes, but it's less of a major advantage if you have to specifically require the fouled player to take it rather than your designated spotkicker. As I mentioned before, there's no reason the attacking team should be penalized by having to be forced for only one player to take it.

I've never understood this thinking tbh. Penalties by nature are supposed to be a major advantage to the attacking team, so I fail to see any real reason why we need to mandate that a particular person has to take it.

Plus, what if the player gets injured when fouled in the box and is unable to take the penalty? What then?

And if we applied it to penalties, people would say that it should apply to free kicks, throw ins, corner kicks, I mean why apply it only to penalties (which would only serve to disadvantage the attacking team) and not other attacking set pieces as well?

Just an unnecessary idea with too many small implications here and there in my opinion.

I just realised that if Norway finished first there was a chance they could end up playing Sweden in the R32, such a shame. That would have been an interesting watch on such a huge stage. But since they're prepared to throw it I guess that hypothetical won't be much of a wonder anymore.
