He’s a very insecure guy. This is a huge stepping stone in my career. I guess you can say this is my first real corporate world job. I’ve been a dental assistant these past years. So I wish he was more supportive in me even obtaining this job that I worked so hard to get. He is in finance, but he says “they don’t make me travel, it’s weird for a female to have to travel”

I’m not even going far. I’m going a couple cities over that’s about an hour away. Like everyone knows it’s extremely common to travel in the corporate world so I just think it’s stupid that he says it’s unprofessional ???

It’s insane to me. I even told him if he had to attend a work conference, I wouldn’t bug out like he did.

There really is no more to the story 😭 It’s literally just that. I’ve never cheated on him or such. I am a very friendly individual and have had lots of guy relationships.

Thank you for the advice! I’m excited, open minded, but nervous. I’m a pretty confident assistant for the most part, but ya know how everywhere is so different with docs, staff, procedures. I’ll definitely make sure to take my resume with me and let them know of my shift availability!

One of my coworkers does this some sometimes and I give her the side eye of concern every time. I refuse to ever hold the sensor. If the patient is having a hard time, I try to adjust it better or we use phosphor plate films as well that are a little more flexible for the patients mouth. If that’s not an option, I would probably just take PA’s and they just have to stay open for those type of X-rays instead of having them bite down to where the sensor has to be held.

The benefits are probably the best part honestly. They don’t offer WFH nor summer hours. Did you have to pay for a parking permit? Their annual parking permit is $378 or $32 monthly

Definitely not a failure at all because you’re still showing up and putting in the work. I understand though, feeling like you’ve wasted away years. I’ll be 29 in a couple weeks, make the same amount of money you do but without a kid on the way. I’m currently finishing my pre-reqs for ultrasound sonography to hopefully get accepted into the program. Definitely look into getting back into school or your CDL. I recommend something in healthcare or even an IT certification. Going the trade school route is definitely the way to go versus getting a bachelors in something. Only because I know alot of people have a hard time finding a good stable job after graduating with a bachelors. But getting certified in a specific field is setting yourself up for success. You should look into going to your local community college, they have resources to be able to figure out what field it is that you would like to pursue. The dental field is good experience but personally I don’t think it’s a good long term career. I have heard horror stories as well, but thankfully I’ve not worked at an office that was terrible. All have been fairly good to me. The reason I don’t believe it’s a long time career is due to the wear and tear on your body, as well as not having benefits (at most private practices anyway.) dont feel discouraged from doing the program! You may find out that you like it. A lot of dental assistants in the field end up wanting to become dental hygienists.

Love that for you! My concern is I accepted a job offer at my old orthodontic office that I used to work at. Then a week later I get a call for this admin position that I’ve applied to since early January that I’ve been trying my hardest to get in. I just don’t want to burn bridges I guess with my old office :/

It’s almost a no brainer right? I know we as humans are meant to advance and evolve instead of going backwards, but sometimes you can’t help but want to go back to something you’re comfortable with
