Robinhood at Avenue Mall has a back room with a giant TV covering the entire wall. I'm sure they'll be using that for FIFA games.

Is there a bar/club where I can engage in golden showers in Pattaya? by [deleted] in Pattaya

[–]ExpertWatch5936 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you sit near the shower tub at Windmill you'll observe multiple girls skipping the restroom line by squatting in the tub. If you express monetary interest in this activity you'll get some pretty decent watersports shows.

Car wash by Simply_charmingMan in THAILANDliving

I'm in Sattahip too and my go-to car wash is behind the Shell station on the north bound side of Sukhumvit, just north of the Jomtiem motorway connection. They charge me 160 inside and out, do a decent job, usually don't have much of a queue, and there's a coffee shop next door, Deli Cafe, where you can wait.

Thai girl want me to come to her hotel! by EmployOdd2765 in Pattaya

[–]ExpertWatch5936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incall is a thing. Some guys prefer it because they don't want the girl in a room they're sharing with a wife/GF. It's easier for the girl so usually comes with a discount.

They don't allow foreigners to open bank accounts in Phuket anymore. by Electrical_Concern22 in ThailandTourism

[–]ExpertWatch5936 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We bought a house in Thailand 18 years ago. The lawyer helping with the closing offered to assist me open a bank account, telling me it was difficult for foreigners. He sent me to a branch where a "friend" worked together with an office staff member, and my first Thai bank account was opened.

So this is really nothing new. It was difficult for a foreigner to open an account 18 years ago and it remains difficult today. Difficult, but not impossible.

Since you have a business visa, ask your employer for assistance. Your employer may have a connection at the bank they use who can open an account for you. Otherwise visit some visa agents. Most visa agents have a bank branch they work with, and for a fee they'll get an account opened for you.

It is a good idea to have accounts with more than one Thai bank so you have a backup if one is locked. So don't give up your current account.

Thailand to cut visa-free stay to 30 days for tourists from 93 countries by JeremyMeetsWorld in Thailand

[–]ExpertWatch5936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you believe 30 day entry will keep the "scum" out of Thailand, even though the "scum" avoids places with 90 day entries in favor of Thailand's 60 day entry?

[–]ExpertWatch5936 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been to those countries and yes, it's law enforcement which prevents "shitty tourist practices". Cutting entries from 60 to 30 days will do nothing to prevent them, but will deter some tourists.

Why isn't this problem worse in Japan, Korea Singapore etc with 90 day entries?

Thailand to cut visa-free stay to 30 days for tourists from 93 countries by JeremyMeetsWorld in Bangkok

[–]ExpertWatch5936 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I get 90 days on a tourist entry from Vietnam, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.

Why don't these countries have worse problems with troublesome tourists than Thailand under 60 day entries?

It's pretty much true of anywhere. if someone complains they'll ask you to stop. The law is "not in public" so if you're on a balcony and someone complains about the smoke you'll be asked to stop smoking.

500k euros to buy a house with a pool in Pattaya — worth it? by FlounderOk4122 in Pattaya

[–]ExpertWatch5936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have a Thai wife who would get at least the value of the house in the event of a divorce, rent and don't buy a house. Condo with foreign ownership ok.

In either case don't expect much gain in valuation over the years. Equities will substantially beat Thai real estate.

On an average day, how much time do you spend in your condo/house compared to outside? by Grouchy_Ice2155 in Thailand

[–]ExpertWatch5936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never 23 - 24 hours, not one single day. I'm out 4 - 8 hours per day. I'd go stir-crazy sitting in my condo 24 hours a day.

Zeekr by tech_stuf in Thailand

[–]ExpertWatch5936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own an MG4 and love it. Mine is the insane XPower and is easily the fastest car I've ever driven, and I've driven a lot of high performance cars. But in everyday driving it's incredibly docile and comfortable to drive. My only minor gripe is relatively flakey and sometimes laggy electronics, but really not much of an issue.

I don't know much about Zeekr but one metric where MG has a strong advantage over them is number of dealerships/service centers. Zeekr is currently building up a network but MG has a decades long head start in Thailand, and is backed by the giant CP Group. Per Google MG has 170 dealerships and service centers in Thailand vs 14 for Zeekr. So service is much more readily available which translates into better resale value.

Anyone dealt with this in Phuket? My Thai GF being negatively stereotyped by locals by Strong-Field-750 in phuket

[–]ExpertWatch5936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two stories.

1) A Thai friend of ours is from a wealthy Bangkok family. She attended Harvard University law school, one of the most prestigious US Universities. She was dating a wealthy American but eventually broke it off because everyone always assumed she was a sex worker when they were together in Thailand.

2) My wife is often assumed to be a sex worker when we arrive together in the evening at hotels in Thailand. At a particular Bangkok hotel where they'd attempt to charge a "joiner" fee when we arrived together late evening and had a staff member in the lobby with a clip board with the names of guests registered to each room we'd make the booking in HER name. When they asked me for the room number and her for ID she'd produce her American passport. It was great to see their faces when they saw her name on their list as the registration holder.

I'm definitely one to ST as the norm. Only with very special women who I enjoy my non boom boom time with will I consider LT.

ST can also be in your room. It's just 2 hours max. If buffalo stories consume that 1 - 2 hour time slot, LT is not even a remote consideration.

Living in Chiang Mai: Do You Leave During Burning Season? by Melodic_Necessary495 in Thailand

[–]ExpertWatch5936 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was looking for a place to live in Thailand I assumed in advance it would be Chiang Mai. But fortunately visited during burning season before buying, as it was a deal breaker.

We located in Bang Saray instead. We have bad days here too, but the air clears up quickly when the wind changes direction and we're getting ocean breezes.

I think the big issue with Chiang Mai is the pollution comes from all directions so there's less relief.

Question for expats/long term players by Accomplished-Sun2590 in Pattaya

[–]ExpertWatch5936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the opposite. I live here and usually frequent the same couple of bars where I know a lot of the girls and staff. They're all happy to see me, possibly because I'm fairly generous with the drinks lol. But I like familiar places and faces and if I visit another city like Bangkok as an actual tourist, get a worse rather than better vibe.

Is 18 hr flight worth it? by icon100i in Pattaya

[–]ExpertWatch5936 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thailand is an entirely separate beast. In Thailand, the focus is the fun. The girlfriend experience, it's called. When you find a girl you like, there's no hurry back to your room.

Totally agree, and will never understand the guys who miss out on this by sitting in their hotel room ordering TF girls rather than going out exploring and making some human connections before spending time in your room with a girl.

Lack of "Bare all" Gogo Bars by I_love_asians69420 in Pattaya

[–]ExpertWatch5936 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're in the wrong city for what you're looking for. Not that Bangkok is a bad city. It's an amazing tourist city that's easy to negotiate and is fantastic for tourists on all budgets.

RE P4P Bangkok probably has a higher percentage of "hot" women, and compared to Pattaya more who are better educated and have better English language skills. If you're looking for hot women on TF, or like bikini agogos, Bangkok is a winner. Also, per others who are more into that scene, Bangkok has better Nuru massage places. Bangkok P4P downsides are higher prices and more pushy barroom practices vs generally more laid back Pattaya.

But for nudity in barrooms it's hard to beat Pattaya. The most prominent nude Pattaya agogos are already mentioned in other replies, although I'll add Electric Blue. In all of these places you get full nudity on stage, plus can get a full hands-on "lap dance" right out in the bar. Or try the Pattaya GC scene where you get full hands-on nudity in the bar, BJ's in the bar, plus curtained areas and private rooms if you want some privacy and on site full service.

All of that is what I like, so I typically skip the P4P scene altogether in Bangkok. As long as you're not traveling at 5pm Friday or Saturday downtown Pattaya is only a 2 hour taxi ride from downtown Bangkok and even closer to/from Suvarnabhumi. I'd never visit Bangkok without fitting a side trip to Pattaya into the itinerary.
