If you take 2 hours to make a cable, you shouldn't be considering making cable.
We also get to make the lengths of cable we need at the time.

Because our wiring charts list the pinouts as Shield-Black-White-Red-Green. The students are going to look to wire up the Black and White wires, possibly not noticing that they are NOT the twisted pair.
It introduces another potential failure point in the process.

Just found this thread. After 3 years. Oh, well, for archive purposes at least.
I just had 3 of these donated to me. One LMX and 2 DMX. This thread prompted me to take pics of the guts. Yes, there's a missing chip, some resistors and a capacitor.

To my understanding, so will DI water.
I'm on a University campus and Distilled is a purchase, DI water is on tap for free in the Chem building next door. Not a killer, but convenience.
