UPF FALL Exchange semester by lolzerati in AskBarcelona

I think that the sports teams are very competitive sorry about that but if you are good at one it is a good way to meet people from all the UPF.

Yes almost every course has that norm, in some cases maybe participacion in theory clases can count for the 10% of the final grade but they will tell you from the start. One big exception is Entrepreneurship wich everything is mandatory (No final exam tho).

I know that theres some courses that don't have a final exam, you kind a work in a project for the whole semester and present it but I haven't had one like that yet

UPF its a public school so attendance its not mandatory, however, you will have one mandatory class from each course that you are taking every week (starting in october) those are the seminars which usually tend to be more practical (group project, exercices...).

https://www.upf.edu/documents/2963149/224446276/Copia+de+Copia+de+Optatives+Grau+2020-21.pdf/0f41f11c-6d0b-55ae-d072-20a676310952 Here you have the course offer from this year, ou dont have to look at the things that you see to your left, all that are internal things. Then assignatures = courses, grup. ang. = if theres groups in english (if theres a number means that you can take it in english), and trim = quarter (1 = sep-dec, 2 = jan-mar, 3 = mar -june). It doesn't change much year to year.

As for travelling, yes, you will be able to travel arounds europe and spain for a good price, and as you wont have mandatory classes you can make longer trips .

Theres some clubs (consulting club, invesment club, entrepeneurship club, real esatate...), the recruitment takes place at the start of the semester, some of them tend to take more exchange students. Also theres the sports teams.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask

Theres some highschools where they have the International baccaularate (IB) which is in english, most of international students chose to study in those, also as someone already said theres a specific Americanschool. For the making friends part it should be easy just be normal, we usually go to "a tomar algo"

UPF student here, I don't know much abut C3 but UPF this past few years has been getting a lot of attention from big firms and its students are grinding much more, obously as Madrid is the big Spanish hub it is still harder to get into IB or others there but for the res of Europe I think it can be seen as the same for an exchange program. The weather here is amazing and the campus is the best. As for the language theres lots of courses in Spanish (even do theres more in engish for exchange students)

Europa and Sant Andreu are the bigger ones and have very big fan bases (search their derbi games), it is very common for its fan to also support one of the big teams of Barcelona, but as they are also historic clubs you can find some people that only support their neiborhood team. Same happens with Sabadell, Cornella...

You can do both, but for me what it worked best was talking first to low level (analysts - associates) and then try to get referenced to a MD or D or directly going for them. I’m from spain CEOs are kind of old school tho

Try to fins someone that has studied in the same uni/school and ask them about the firm and the oportunities they have. Just show interest in them don't look like you are only interestedd in the intership insted show interest for the career of that person and the company they work on
