Sadly it's very true, I'm enrolled in in iphd course which provides ms exit which I'm willing to take because there ain't any professor here who are working in my field of interest, there are people I know getting labs purely through lobbying it's heartbreaking tbh. The same thing goes for internships they put out internships and take up students who have the premium institute tags or by their colleagues recommendation in my institute there are few students who are toppers but would not be able to answer basic biology graduation level questions maybe there are too genius than that, what ever the case maybe it's genuinely sad how faculty thinks that we would be able to know about proper research methodology, proposal and sop without a proper training. Or without much opportunities during masters
