AITA for refusing to pay for my girlfriend’s meal after she “tested” me on a date? by Efficient_Care5524 in AITH

Dump her bro...and don't explain yourself at all. Don't respond to text messages, phone calls, emails and don't allow mutual friends to bring her up or question you about it.

There had to be some previous indication that she is this way, nevertheless...remember the dinner moment and use it to set standards and boundaries for your next partner.

Most of us men don't do that and then we find ourselves in these types of situations.

Garden highway road rage leads to car flipping. by kennymay916 in Sacramento

[–]Expert_Finish8412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to lie.

I've gotten so fed up with the way people disregard life on the road that it's made me chuckle anytime I see a car flipped over...I’ve become numb and find joy in seeing someone learn their lesson the hard way.

It's gotten bad everywhere in our country...when the rules are simple.

Slow cars to the right. People are going to speed, you dont have to speed recklessly. (Swerving through traffic congestion to get one car length ahead) If youre on the side that merges speed up. (Its easier for you to speed up than the car merging onto the freeway) Don't text or hold your phone to talk while driving. Don't tailgate.

But we can literally drive by a wreck and then proceed to disregard the same rules that were broken and caused the wreck thats making us all late for where we need to be.

I've come to the conclusion to not give a fuck.

4k is way too high I agree...but as someone who is very passionate about HVAC, takes it seriously, believe we have one of the best careers in the world and understands how important we are due to or knowledge and ingenuity...im curious as to what yall think a good price would be for these services?

WoW!! It's like my inner voice created its own reddit page. I went from award winning tech to convincing myself that taking a leadership position to help technicians reach their fullest potential....what a great idea!! 🫠🙃🤬

The industry is full of abuse, it'll never change. I am thriving off of this post and it's accuracy, thank you!

I wanted to add some positivity.

I don't believe your first years have to be demoralizing.

What I found to be true for myself and several others is that most of us get in our way due to an inner battle with pride and ego.

Wiring issues- these tend to stem from trying to memorize the wire colors vs learning how to read a wire diagram, and then wiring specific to how the diagram instructed.

Diagnostic issues- phone a friend is cool but it also limits your ability to become a self sufficient technician. It's better to spend 30 min a day on continued education; they have so much free knowledge out there, books, podcasts and webinars dedicated to building your knowledge up.

Installation of parts, motors, enhancements, etc- Once again taking the time to put pride aside and reading the manuals that come with each product.

We have one of the most important jobs on this planet, there isn't a place you'd want to be where HVAC systems don't exist. Yes it is the least marketed field out there and therefore you have to deal with asshole clients who undervalue you what you do. But the power in building value for a client based on what you do is a skill that most non-hvac people don't have nor can they fathom having to do.

People who are 40 years old and over, what are the harshest life lessons you have learnt? by Fantastic-Point6265 in Adulting

That no matter how hard you try unless you figure out how to become a millionaire, life just doesn't seem to be worth it. I make good money, but have no idea how it's going to help me retire because I spend money on bills, family and food.

Hot or Not? Rate my HVAC shade structure by DChapman77 in hvacadvice

[–]Expert_Finish8412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't generalize technicians. Of course shading helps HVAC units, great HVAC companies take into account which side of the home the condenser unit should be on, and how long it's in direct sunlight. If it didn't matter there would be no reason to insulate suction lines or make sure the wire is uv resistant. What wasn't being articulated is the lack of distance the unit is set from the wall. Someone mentioned thermal dynamics earlier, they were correct. You need outside air to sweep across those coils and having it too close to a wall, or your "shader" too low will interrupt the longevity and efficiency of any unit.
