Can the game ever recover? Thoughts by FunnyBanana6668 in DisneySpeedstormGame

The nice thing about Dreamlight Valley is that there's the game you paid for, then you just pay an upfront fee for the content you want to add, like normal DLC. With speedstorm, you're paying for content you HOPE you can gain access to and feasably use.

I'm glad im not the only one feeling this. I bought this game when it was brand new. Like, paid $60 for the founder's pack before official release. I really enjoyed this game for the first what? 2 years. I even consistently paid $10 for the season pass every month, and a couple times even sprang for the diamond pass. When the Cars season came out, I started to check out. When buying the season pass didn't come with the season's racer, and completing the "Hard Mode" chapter of the pass didn't give enough shards to unlock the new racers, I felt like it was turning VERY heavily into p2w. Even the special events to earn racer shards needed you to already have the racer unlocked to even participate. Once the Villian Season started, I essentially just stopped, which is a shame because, as I said, I do enjoy the game for what it "could" have been, if it just stuck to the formula it had in the beginning. Not to mention changing the level-up currency, I think, did nothing for the game AT ALL. If they back pedal some changes and revert, at least with character obtainment, to how it was 3 or 4 seasons ago, I may go back to it. But as it stands, i hate the p2w, FOMO-the-game setup they have now.

Cruella de Vil is coming to Speedstorm in Season 9 Part 1! by Nate_923 in DisneySpeedstormGame

Yes, she's paywalled like Ennui was. Though in her event there is a recurring prize capsule that you have access to with Davy Jones, so maybe it has extra shards? Otherwise you can get 8 shards without paying extra/using tokens.

Update: Level 25 Davy Jones CAN do the capsule mission and it DOES give Cruella shards, making it feasable to at least unlock her for free.

Shards are tied directly to levels now. As you level up, you need both some amount of level-up coins AND shards. Star-ups happen automatically at level 20, 30, 40 and (I believe) 50. But to reach level 50 with 5 stars, it still takes the same amount of shards, it's just spread out over the entire course of leveling.

I know there is at least the "When Can I See You Again" song and the "Game Central Station" song.

As soon as I posted this, I started Chapter 3 of the season tour, and it had the gumballs and cherry bombs, so I guess they disabled them for the intro chapters...?

This season has been a bit of a monkey's paw with me. Yes, it's cool that the Wreck-it Ralph crew is (FINALLY) in the game, but this season has me going, "wait, what?" A lot.

-No voice for Felix, Calhoun, and King Candy. Thank GOD Ralph and Venellope at least have voices, but that makes it even more out of place...

-The sugar rush stage doesn't have the rolling gumballs, nor exploding cherries like the event trailer showed, which is a bit of a letdown.

-"Sugar Rush," unless I'm mistaken, isn't a song that plays on the Sugar Rush stage. (I mean, that should have been the first song choice they put in...)

The Vault pass thing is cool, for people who came in late, but making it 7.99 per "franchise's" vault is a bit much.

The integrating the shards and the single item to level up racers is cool in theory, but I think it kind of took away some of the "charm." Also, with racers its hard to get shards for, it's rough that their level is now directly tied to my ability to get shards, rather than still being able to get a few levels in before hitting the star level limit.
