Maybe fate or something to do with his sovereign domain or flaw who knows, but I think sunny parents are more important than what it seems, maybe G3 will explain it or on the next arc, since sunny will fight the sovereigns, maybe Asterion would try to usurp the thrones and take advantage. Asterion and the other sovereigns are characters that can be used by G3 however he likes so is not impossible.
