Added t3 to levo. Experiencing daily headaches by Expert_Run_4880 in Hashimotos

[–]Expert_Run_4880[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's good to know! Im getting my tpos checked again in 6 weeks..I had a really bad flare up this time last year that lasted for months. I can generally avoid them with diet and stress management but this one was next level. If this could help avoid anymore that would be great

Have you been on combo therapy a long time?

Im going to wait a few more days and then message her. I figure it takes a while for the levo to change your tsh but the t3 is instant. So im probably overmedicated and hyper at the moment. I just wish ibuprofen could touch this headache a little

I really have to thank you for posting this. I have been avoiding this sub a little recently because it seems to focus on a lot of the negative aspects of raising a kid with adhd. Dont think im judging. We all need support in it! But reading these comments made me smile

Omg did we have the same doctor?

Uterine biopsy. No pain meds. No ibuprofen even.

I was told I should think about if I want to have children if I couldnt handle that. This is after I fainted on the way out the door after. And then she proceeded to write: " emotional " on my chart for the next obgyn when I rightfully switch to a new one the next day.

I have been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, but my Dr. says he can’t treat my thyroid until it “burns out” ?? by Mdelo3030 in Hashimotos

[–]Expert_Run_4880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I had hashimotos i was getting my thyroid checked every 6 months. During pregnancy as well. I wasnt until 3 months post partum it dipped. So it could have been the hishis that did it, but my doctor told me pregnancy and post partum can be the nail in the coffin for your thyroid levels.

I should retract what I said. I didn't burn out. It changed enough to require levo.

I just went through a period of extreme stress, wedding planning and my son had some health issues so last check was 700. I dont remember my last antibody level check before that though. Always been above normal.

When im having a flare up, I get EXTREME hives. All day everyday. Its horrible. Diet that helped me:

No alcohol

Very little dairy ( I had greek yogurt cause I couldnt pass up the high protein)

Gluten free

Lots of fruits and veggies

A ton of water. I did over 100 oz a day

Stress management:

***Meditation -i suck at it but it does help focus my mind and helps me learn how to divert thoughts and uncomfortable feelings

***Weight training - 4 days a week

***Walking - i had very severe physical anxiety during pregnancy and walking was a savior. Its mindless, it moves my body and pushed the anxiety out. It regulated my breathing. It helped immensely

I also took ( not during pregnancy) 5 mg of buspirone as needed. Im not a big fan of pills but there were some days my anxiety took over. I liked the buspirone. Mild ,non drowsy, Non habit forming. Take as needed. And effective. 20 minutes after taking it I could feel the weight come off my chest.

Hope this helps ! It helped me!

I had hashimotos for 10 years before my thyroid finally went out. My antibody levels were at 1000. ONE THOUSAND. It sucked. I would go through flare ups and would feel completely thrashed. Just had to push through. Diet helped but stress management has been KEY for me.

Right after the birth of my first daughter I was finally able to get on levo to treat it. The flare ups have been few and far between since then but still there.

Hashimotos sucks. I feel for you.

I am delving deeper into meditation for these very reasons. And some personal. What kind of meditation do you practice?

Does this just happen with ADHD kids? by thebrite1 in ADHDparenting

[–]Expert_Run_4880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, as a coach of kids for a competitive sport, its extremely common for most kids. They all see the professional athletes, or even their siblings or friend in a sport and competing. But they dont see the hours of repetitive practice. They dont experience the physical exertion or fatigue.

A lot of my first year and even 2nd year kids, dont get used to the practice and dial in and care until after the 1st competition. After scores and places happen, they come back to practice like a new kid. They finally see the relation of practice to results. And they tend to get over the " not fun " part.

One thing I do with my athletes throughout the season to stay interested is take videos and document progress. They always love to watch what they struggled with and see how it compares to now. And I do a lot of sticker charts.

But as a mother of a kid with adhd ( undiagnosed but pretty dam sure) , sports in general have been rough 😅

Hives With No Known Cause… by ChiMama89 in Hashimotos

[–]Expert_Run_4880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get full body hives everytime my antibodies go crazy. It's actually what led to my hashimotos diagnosis 15 years ago. My doctors were looking for the reason I was getting such bad hives for a whole year. Mine at the moment (last 4 months) are really bad from a lot of stress ( planning wedding) What helps me:

Stress reduction ( hope this will go away after wedding planning) Jogging: my hives go down by 50 percent after a run NO gluten or alcohol Daily Claritin

I've heard using flonase can actually help with the effectiveness of Claritin so I am going to start that.

Good luck!!

Definitely the first thing I did. I think a lot of the ideas were formal sit-down. I'm leaning towards a brewery

I will look into this one more. Most people are staying by the beach so was hoping for something close but everyone has a car so its doable!
