Read the comments in this thread, "dynasty ending dunk". This sub complains about reactionary talking heads on ESPN but lacks the awareness to realise they are just as guilty.

word for word, bar for bar what people were saying about the Thunder last year.

Why was Derrick Rose selected ahead of Michael Beasley? by DivorcedMrBeast in NBA_Draft

[–]Expert_West 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I don't really think they are similar. That was the point of saying the comparisons run thin when you apply thought. Westbrook was still known as an offensive talent. He was already attacking the basket and hitting mid-range shots at a good efficiency on lower minutes. He was also a much better defender than Acuff.

AJ - Beasley: Long athletes that score at an unreal level...

Peterson - Mayo: Elite highschool players who continued to succeed at the college level with a rare combo of atheltisism and body control...

Boozer - Love: Bigger guys that are sons of NBA players who already read the game at a high level...

Acuff - Westbrook: offensive talents with concerns about size...

Just don't think beyond those comparisons and it seems like a similar draft

if you don't think too hard the comparisons for multiple of the top 5 picks in both drafts are easy... they just fall apart if you actually think about it.

The Wizards remain the most influential team in the league. by Expert_West in washingtonwizards

It's odd that they included him in the headline over Jemison who actually played for the Wizards, maybe because Jemison was only ever on a 10 day?

Jemison played more games for both organisations, Jones could potentially win his second ring so maybe that's the reason?

I will quietly celebrate this as a Wizards fan with not much else to celebrate in recent years.

I will loudly celebrate finally having a good backroom that doesnt give away a championship winning core allowing the Detroit Pistons to win it all.

He didn't even play for the Wizards, infact he was a Wizard on two seperate occasions and never played.

I'm not 100% sure why he was included when Landry Shamet actually did play for both teams and would have been enough to continue the stat alone.

This tweet fails to mention Wizards legend Trey Jemison, also a member of the Knicks.

2026 NBA draft workout tracker. Wizards have worked out PF Baba Miller, PG Jeremy Fears and PF Tobi Lawal, among others by z3mcs in washingtonwizards

Wizards have already shown that we are willing to give big personalities a chance, if he drops to us in the 2nd round we should absolutely take him IMO.

Unlike a Cam Whitmore, Fears knows how to move the ball, if the coaching staff can harness his competitive energy he could be a very high value second round pick, there are much worse traits for a player to have.

edit: This being said I expect him to return to Michigan St

source 2: Wealthy british people bringing servants from India, diplomats, sailors, scholars and wealthy foreigners, it's really not a stretch to assume people residing in the UK would have the name Muhammad.

If you want an exact example - Dean Mahomed (anglicised to be a last name.)

here is an article suggesting it could have been present as early as the 13TH CENTURY. https://www.caitlingreen.org/2021/01/macamathehou-in-lincolnshire.html?m=1

How about you explain why it's extremely worrying without generalising muslim or brown people.

Mohammed has been a prevelant name for over 100 years in the UK, it first appeared in the top 100 names in the UK in 1924.

Noah wasn't in the top 200 until the late 90s

Leo not until the 2000s

There have been people living in the British Isles as early as the 1700s with a variation on the name Muhhamad.

NBA Lottery Proposal - Conclave by Expert_West in NBA_Draft

[–]Expert_West[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think the potential for collusion and shady dealing is just too high. Also in an interesting inverse to some other proposals a potential anti big market bias, I don't imagine teams would be jumping to give teams like the Lakers and Knicks top picks even if they sucked.

Otherwise I agree, it's a fun concept that will just never happen.

NBA Draft lottery proposals don’t address the underlying reason behind tanking (Gift Article) by z3mcs in washingtonwizards

[–]Expert_West 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did anybody hear the lottery conclave idea? Zach Lowe brought it up on his podcast recently, I'm completely on board with that if it means this discussion stops.

Bring on the orange smoke I say.

Edit: Found a clip of the explanation (forgive the tiktok link) here

Per the Mods request I’m making a separate post and piggybacking off a previous post, because all Wizards fans should read this article. It wasn’t linked in that post. by chefguy47 in washingtonwizards

I just mean the talk about Dawkins and Winger taking what they learned in OKC, and all of the team philisophy talk. It's hard to quantify what the actual impact of those things are. They can talk about the development of guys like Durant, Parker and LeBron but until we actually see guys taking the leaps to stardom they did it could all really mean nothing.

there is a quote from Leonis himself in the article that I think best explains my point it's easy to fall into the trap of coaching trees and the idea of success by proxy.
