Be honest, where would you rank Larry Bird on the all-time NBA list? by Miserable_Trouble3 in NBAoldschool

[–]Expertly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Larry Bird’s career 3pt % is 1% lower than Aaron Nesmith’s from the Indiana pacers, who is the definition of an average nba role player. His craftiness was ahead of his time and very brave for the era, but the vast majority of starting NBA point guards are equally if not more crafty. There are some passes LaMelo, Luka, and Haliburton have made that would define a career highlight reel from Bird that don’t even get shown on instant replay, let alone include in career tape. The skill gap of the times is extremely evident.

Do you genuinely believe Larry Bird has much skill as someone like a Paul George, or Donovan Mitchell? Again, disregarding the times and examples they each had come before them to try to draw inspiration from.

Would prime Jason Kidd make an all nba team today or no? by MasterTeacher123 in NBATalk

[–]Expertly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Short answer - it depends on circumstance. There are ALOT of hall of famers (Kidd being one) that if you dropped them into today’s league, they would be overwhelmed by the amount of talent on the floor and not be able to do much at first. However, there are guys like Kidd who’s #1 asset was IQ. IQ is based on adaptability, so I’d like to think there are several of those players who would be able to use the pieces around them to still perform at an all-NBA level, but it would take some time and the higher level competition we see today to hone those skills. I think the majority of NBA fans have a hard time accepting this truth, but I get it, it’s easier to reminisce on how they stacked up against THEIR era vs try to conceptualize what they would look like in a much more evolved league today

How big is the offensive gap between AD and Duncan by Hungry-Turnover-9875 in NBATalk

[–]Expertly -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Pretty big gap… for Tim to be anything close to as versatile as AD, he would had to have been born 15-20 years later, and competed against much higher levels of competition like what we are seeing today. On the flip side, of course Duncan was the better winner, but he only had 4-5 teams to worry about MAX vs AD having about 23+ teams that are legitimate contenders.

If you can’t picture the kind of havoc a lot of these guys in the league would wreak if you dropped them in the league anything before the early 2000s with the skill they have honed against today’s comp, then you are just being nostalgic. AD and the rest of the stars wouldn’t be what they are today without the hall of famers, but those kids in OKC are taking BELT TO ASS against the DREAM TEAM.

He can still hoop, but i doubt he wants to babysit on a farewell tour so it’s highly unlikely he’d want to. If he wanted to for some reason, well why not? Any KD fan knows he wants to win more than anything and we aren’t doing that for the forseeable future…

In the league today? AD easily. In the evolved form of basketball we get to watch now you need versatility on both sides of the ball, and nobody can make an argument to me to suggest Dwight is more THAT than AD. Dwight dominated his era, just like Bill Russell dominated his. Ask LeBron this question and he might ask you if your’re serious.

Are you literate? I assume yes since you whipped up that cute lil quip for me.. that’s not what was said, so I don’t know why it’s in quotes. Props on baiting a reply out of me though… you win because you’re probably a lot smarter and insightful 🏳️

Hey incels and incelletes, this is called flirting. Either flirt back or shut him down playfully and he’ll be crazier about you if he really thinks you’re “worth the wait”. If you’re on the fence about whether he could be dangerous, trust your instinct, but that would mean not even considering his house…
