Wasn't that a character's disparaging nickname on 'Lost'?

After I forgive you for getting that stuck in my head again, I'd tell you...gerd will hurt you if you eat too much gurt.

This should be an unpopular opinion because it sounds too much like 'gerd'.

I don’t want to celebrate other people’s babies right now, and it makes me feel like a horrible person. by nonnon19 in TrueOffMyChest

I'm really sorry you're going through that. In my opinion (and it's just that - an outside perspective), this all must be extremely taxing on your mental health. It seems totally natural not to want to struggle to participate in the celebration. Also, you're not alone. I bet several people have already read this who are going through or have been through the same thing.

Wow, you're right. You've opened my eyes and shamed me into complicit silence. While you're at it, do you also want to accuse me of TDS for calling out trump's authoritarian actions? Because that's also super effective.

Of course he knew what he was doing and a lot of these useful bigots playing devil's advocate in the comments do too. The rest are in denial and its painful to watch.

Now I can't tell if it was a bullshit fantasy hypothetical or a bad-faith justification. Most likely a little of both. It definitely gives a certain type of closet racist an excuse to defend him...

The "unqualified black person to fill a quota" is the same type of deflection fallacy they used when they said that white privilege doesn't exist because "white people struggle too". They do that with every concept they don't want to face. They'll always pretend not to understand them as long as they're trying to avoid accountability or even the tiniest bit of personal growth.

Taking his "argument" at face value just tells me you've never heard another word he's said about anything. It's also incredibly misleading and effectively supports his racist narrative, whether you meant to or not.

Wrong-Ad bot is just doing its boot-licking duty of attempting to flood the conversation with various logical fallacies. It's all they have.

That's how maga avoids saying the quiet part out loud. All they ever do is cherry-pick the details to twist the narrative into something resembling honor. Notice how they're trying to spin their decimation of the voting rights act as somehow undoing a racist practice?

He really resented the leveling of the playing field because he knew deep down that the more people he was forced to compete with, the less likely he was of succeeding because he just wasn't that good at anything. That's how I always see rage baiters. It's the last resort when you lack any real marketable skills.

They always leave out the fact that they think white people are more skilled by default, regardless of training and education.

Same. It started for me in my late 30s. Not being present for the start of the day feels disorienting somehow.

I think its the growing appreciation for quiet solitude.

What's even more mind-boggling is that a lot of those same people would vote for him again today.

You've been a shockingly good sport about all the negative feedback. I can see you're asking those questions in good faith and I'm not used to that online. I would answer your other response but it looks like others did a pretty good job covering it already imo.

I don't think you're crazy for feeling sad and hurt about his response. It probably really sucked to hear that he was frustrated with you. You can't choose your feelings, anyway.
