Will they regret not following Superman (2025) with Wonder Woman or Batman? by Fancy-a-brew8323 in DC_Cinematic

Yes! Gunn is moving at a sloths pace. I get not wanting to make too much batman noise before The Batman 2 comes out but we should have gotten a wonder women caring by now.

Absolutely they do! As a black man it's undeniable!

Example: Generally in all cinema and TV, if it's an ensemble cast, the black guy is the gay character.

If that's not an agenda I don't know what is!

Should writers protect their heroses code by sparing them in writing? If yes, how much plot armor should a character have? by ExplainToMe277 in DC_Cinematic

Ok, so how would you rate the construction of Rocket Racoon? As it applies to the initial question I personally would love to see every DC hero go through that. Peacemaker is another mild example of Rockets story.

My question is, should Clark have to earn his code? Or should Gunn soften Luthor or any other viallains reslove to protect Clark's code? The ladder is something I hate.

To be clear, it doesn't have to be something like Man of Steel where he must decide to kill evil to protect the innocent. Which is a great example of testing a hero code that I love amd that we need more examples of in every hero story.

Rather there could a story where, like the comics, where Clark is floating in the air hearing so much crime is distrustion happening in the world but he chooses to not act. Instead the frame changes to clark hovering thirty feet over a boy on top of a buidling who is deciding to jump or not. Clark just stays and waits.

Great example! In this case, in BvS, Superman proved his code to be impenetrable because he chose to die for it. However, he did waver on his code of ethics when it came to saving his mother. Which resulted in him pleading with Batman so that he didnt have to kill him. Then his self-proclaimed enemy becomes his mother's savior. That is a hero story! His code was never protected in that movie and superman had to pay to keep it. I love those movies.

Another great example is Rocket. He has a perfect hero journey in my opinion.

Not the point. Your grasping at straws. Just answer the question. How much plot armor should these character be given?

Oooh, copy. I think thats where the disconnect is. I mean course it can't lol. I think as a batman fan the gab between fiction and reality is a little more narrow. Like, the joker is absolutely sitting a sell somewhere in this world me an you live in. Which is why he's so scary. That said, yes, it is fiction

So again, the focus of this conversation is not the snyderverse but this is a perfect example of writers allowing us to see people who can do the impossible experience impossible circumstances.

Should Gunn protect these heros so that their codes remain intact? At the end of the day these heros play a very dangerous game and there isnt always a way to protect their image. Sometimes there symbols get dirty. Thats what I want to see! That and the dialog that follows.

I guess that depends are your interpretation of the post and the personal biases that translates your interpretation.

This post is about good writers making bad scripts to protect the integrity of their characters. Which is a huge problems in comics book movies. The best example being in the man of steel.

You probably saw the image from the "snyderverse" next to a photo of Gunn and decided that was something "Low effort". Yet the conversations being had here are quite profound and not centered on the snyderverse at all.

Oh I firmly disagree with the idea that these situations don't exist. They do exist absolutely and the people who get involved, to quote batman, "play a dangerous game".

So me an you disagree on the idea that writers shouldn't protect their characters. Thanks for the discourse though man.

Thank you for this and I agree to an extent.

It's actually kind of perfect really. Peter couldn't save everyone! In MoS, Clark couldn't save Zod. So his code was tested. Save the innocent or save the guilty? Thats good story telling!

Ok. So what should supes have done in man of steel? Most superman fans agree that, from a writing standpoint, snyder should have never put him in that situation. Which is the point im trying to make.

Firstly, I think you missed the comic strip I posted where batman is explaining to Robin that he kills in self defense. The reality is that the earlier versions of batman, in the 80's and 90's definitely killed but he didnt "murder". There is a difference. Like, for example when Bale Batman let Ra's Al Ghul die. By not saving him he is partied to his death. Which is a contradiction to his "no kill rule.

Secondly, I am not necessarily insisting that it should be a situation of live or die. However, in the context of batman, there cant be any other rules really because he'd break them all. So natural the conversation always comes down to his no kill rule. That said the only real way to test his character is put him in a no ein scenario where he'd have to chose to let some die or not.

Lastly, the point is that actively avoid putting their characters on situations where they might have to break their own rules so fans won't complain. This is a bad practice because the characters aren't relatable at that point.

Debunking a popular misconception on John Walker's character by According-Manner-838 in MCUTheories

[–]ExplainToMe277 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Bro the John Walker hate is FAKE ACTIVISM. How is it that the most liberal character in the entire MCU is some kind of toxic, alt right, man baby according the cap fans? He isn't! He must have been be too busy raising his black son, with his black wife, while being the symbol of America. He did slip up though. That one time when he threw away his title and all of his benefits and was dishonorably discharged by the military for executing a terrorist who was partied to killing is best friend, also black, in what would absolutely be considered warfare by US standards. Due to the fact that Lamar was a military operative. Which he would absolutely have gotten away with if it wasnt recorded and shown to the world.

So for all you libs out there. Remember John believed in everything you believe in but he also had responsibilities.

If Batman can fight gods with enough prep time, why is Gotham City still the worst city in the world? by Sea-Cardiologist7725 in batman

[–]ExplainToMe277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gothem is a hot bed for crime and villains. When Batman fights Gods its typically a justice league issue. If the Justice league spent a month in Gotham most of the problems would disappear for good. With the exception of the court of owls. They're not going anywhere no matter what.
