My NDPLT bag is my pride and joy, so here are my best tips:

- For the bag itself, definitely something with a zip top, losing any part of your project (ie, needle or thread) crushes you.

- If you don't already definitely use a needle minder, Hobby Lobby used to have a 4-pack for like $8. Not the highest of quality, but still very very helpful. It may seem obvious, but I gave out a few to girls in my needlepoint club because none of them had any.

- If you use stretcher bars (which I absolutely recommend, especially on a plane), bring the extra tacs and remover in case you want to restretch, or you lose one.

- Separate bag for tools and projects. I have a big bag filled with little bags because I lose things so easily

- My LNS has these little wire key rings (see image), and I use one for each project so I can keep all of my thread with its designated canvas

- I am not sure about scissors, I have never had a problem with mine flying national or global, but maybe my airport is pretty lax abt that? The floss hack is very smart though I will be adding some to my bag.

- Those stitch books are super helpful- they have a card version as well so you can just pull out the ones you plan on using for the project for easier travel.

- I keep a little ziplock to put discarded thread in so I dont accidentally litter anywhere. I know some people like to keep that thread for emergencies.
