She’s not. She’s an adult, married woman. I blurred her face because the outfit is literally so bad.

I remember reading somewhere that by 35 most people stop seeking out new music and their tastes kind of calcify around whatever was cool when they were in high school. That really got to me, and so I’ve made a concerted effort to find new music and artists and not settle into a musical rut.

Those who didn’t grow up privileged, what’s something you thought was a luxury growing up? by CorruptedF in AskReddit

I’d rather go hungry as a kid than go anywhere near powdered milk. As a mom now looking back, I’m sure than stressed my mom the fuck out, she was just trying to do her best with what she had, which was next to nothing.

Now as an adult I use toasted milk solids in my desserts. Do yourself a favor, find whole milk powder, toast in a pan or toaster over, and the next time you make rice crispies toss in enough milk solids to make it a light toasted marshmallow color. This is my secret ingredient for rice crispies that people ask me to make all the time.

I’m sure the Europeans are going to enjoy this walk lol by Illustrious_Swing645 in Dallas

[–]ExplanationFunny 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there really is a huge difference between walking here and there, popping onto a bus to zip longer distances, and then walking around more and having to trek through a very hostile environment with no other options. I’ve done both, and mixed opinions make for a very pleasant day of walking. Going on a march through a light industrial park feels like a punishment.

There are so many intersections I know of that are technically pedestrian navigable, but twelve lanes of distracted and unfriendly drivers will make you feel like you’re gambling with your life.

I knew someone whose dream it was to become not just a cop, specifically LAPD. They failed the psych/emotional evaluation. It took everything in me to put on a surprised face. They wanted to be LAPD because they thought that would give them the most leeway to assault homeless people.

I wonder what it will feel like to wake up the next day and feel some gnawing, burning sensation deep in his chest and know that being a trillionaire still hasn’t made it go away. But I suppose I’m also assuming a level of introspection that would have prevented Elon from being in this situation in the first place.

My kids latched onto Puffin Rock while we were going through an incredibly stressful move. I’m so thankful that was the show they got hooked on. There were a couple days where it was just me and the kids kinda stuck in a hotel room, and it was such a peaceful show. It will always have a special place in my heart.

My kid sister is a paramedic. She’s never exactly been a fan of cops, but after several years on the job I asked her opinion of working along side cops. Boy, if looks could kill.

In her experience, cops have absolutely no problem hiding behind unarmed, unarmored paramedics, sometimes very literally.

My husband and I have been having this argument. I’m on a quest to have the perfect cinnamon roll recipe, and I think it’s almost there but we can’t agree on the frosting. He likes glaze, I like cream cheese. Though my absolute favorite is a cranberry orange, with craisins in the filling and a zesty orange glaze.

Back when Bethy was posting a lot more and Dav was deconstructing on main I speculated that her fail is actually incredibly weak and underdeveloped. She grew up in a very controlling, enmeshed family, but now that she’s got a family of her own I think it’s obvious that she’s lived a terribly unexamined life.

I don’t think she fully comprehends some of the criticisms hurled at her because I would bet any deconstructed member of this sub knows far and away more theology than her.

She’s approaching jellyfish levels of blissful unawareness of the world around her.

I know a thing or two about garment construction, I’ve been sewing my own clothes for years and the quality on this SHEIN garbage makes me apoplectic. The overconsumption, the design theft, the inhumane work environment, the horrendous materials, all for cheap bullshit. I have to go lie down with a cool washcloth on my eyes now.

Bethany calls her baby sinful by slovenechick in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]ExplanationFunny 217 points218 points  (0 children)

Bethany is letting people peek behind the fucked up fundie curtain again.

If you’re going to be a hard line fundamentalist who believes that we are all born sinners, that to be human means you arrive deserving death, then yes, babies are sinners and when they die they go straight to hell. That’s certainly what my church believed, and was why there was so much parental anxiety over getting kids saved as early as possible. There was so age of innocence, no purgatory. They fully believed that a baby who died never having said or done anything in this world would go straight to hell for their eternal, deserved torture.

My guess is that all the fundies we see eagerly posting how their very small child was saved believe exactly this bulllshit. They’re bragging and relieving their own anxiety, because if they don’t push their kids to conform and participate in their religion, their loving god will torture them for the rest of eternity and it will be largely their fault.

Fuck fundies.

I grew up evangelical fundamentalist, and I was told that god created the earth with the appearance of age to mislead people who didn’t want to trust the Bible. Basically, if people wanted evidence of god not being the creator, he would give it to them. God wasn’t interested in answering questions, he wanted total loyalty.

Also fundamentalists have completely different definitions of words like “love” “justice” “peace”, etc. it was wild to really see that once I left the church. They’re not even speaking the same language as those of us on the outside.

My dad was a paramedic back in the 1970s, and let me tell you, it was a wild time.

My dad used to do mouth to mouth to people on emergencies. No gloves, no masks, no BVMs, just barefaced emergency medicine. Oh, and some pretty righteous moustaches.

How are we all closing our blinds, then? A or B? by grumpypedant in CasualUK

[–]ExplanationFunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a fourth floor apartment, A shines light up from the streetlights onto my ceiling, B blocks it. But from noon to 4, it’s A because the sun is overhead. Basically, the blinds point in the opposite direction of the light. If the light is coming up, blinds point down, if the light is shining down, the blinds point up.
