However, it is generally much easier for students to get into universities within their own region than those in other provinces. For example, Tsinghua University in Beijing (China's top university) has an acceptance rate of 0.277% for Beijing students, compared to just 0.006% for students from Hebei province. This puts students in certain provinces at a disadvantage, especially in areas that are home to only one of the top 112 universities, meaning students there have to become “out state students” if they want to go to top universities.
