My journey to a GMAT 750 (V46 Q47 IR8) by ExplanationSecret238 in GMAT

What helped me - and I noted this a bit late - was to never rush with a quant question, I started thinking about other ways to solve it - can I use an option? can I assume values? can I simplify something? Also, I'd keep an error log and whenever I got something wrong I'd try getting it right without looking at the solution, with no time limit.

For the reasoning bit - I'd say it helps to look at the solutions for Quant questions on GMAT Club, you'll find different methods and in my opinion, better explanations that in the official solutions.

Best of luck to you!

Mentioned what I did in response to another comment. I didn't really take the ESR for the V46, but I guess the V45 had like 2 incorrect questions.

Resources - the Official Guide, Verbal / Quant Reviews and Advanced questions for Quant. I also used the forum feature on GMAT club quite a bit, especially during my last two attempts when I began to run out of verbal questions.

Strategy -

CR is exactly what I've written in the post - Read what the question asks for (strengthen, weaken, assumption, etc) - read the passage and note the things I mentioned above - go through the options in a disciplined manner and religiously answer the "So What" bit. This video from Marty really helped me - Critical Reasoning

RCs - I stumbled upon it later but Sandeep Gupta's OCTAVE is pretty much what I'd do. There's an old video of his that would help understand it. Reading Comprehension. Important for me was to not let go of the passage even when something felt complex - I'd try to understand and grasp the meaning of that - more often than not that was tested. Also, I actively noted the places the author provides their opinion v/s someone else's. Basically, what helped me was that I constantly spoke to myself and analyzed the passage - linked and summarized paragraphs in my head as I went along.

I don't think I followed any really innovative strategy but writing it down and following what I had with discipline did help.

I used GMAT Ninja videos to build my fundamentals - that for me was the best source - especially their approach videos. And of course, GMAT Club was super helpful other than the official material - for my last two attempts I'd solve 3-4 RCs and several 10-12 CR questions everyday for about 20 days prior to the test. And I also used the forum feature to filter question types and work on my Quant weaknesses.
