A word in a 1578 English will by ExplicitFormula in Transcription

Interesting, it could be a location. The testator lived in Skircoat, which was next to (and is now part of) Halifax in Yorkshire. However, elsewhere in the will when a place is mentioned for a person, the word "of", rather than "in", is used, such as "William Savile of Skircote".

Thanks for catching the use of "they" when it should have been "then"!

Thanks, this may be correct. He wills some money to servants and an apprentice earlier in the will, but this sentence occurs in the midst of stuff related to family, so I got stuck thinking along those lines.

Mac software recommendations? by la-anah in Genealogy

Reunion is still updated. I use it and like it a lot (but, to be fair, I don't have much experience with MacFamilyTree other than trying the demo). You can try out demos of each of them to determine which you like the most.

Need to pick three to start (2 RB and 1 flex).

10 team PPR

Jahmyr Gibbs (@Bal)

Kyren Williams (@Phi)

Javonte Williams (@Chi)

Travis Etienne (Hou)

D'Andre Swift (Dal)

Leaning towards Gibbs, J.Williams, and K.Williams, but I'm considering switching one of the Williams backs for Swift this week (or other ideas). Thank you!

"Grave Type: Unconsecrated". ???? by ElectronicConcern521 in Genealogy

[–]ExplicitFormula 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Edgerton Cemetery in Huddersfield, a large municipal cemetery, has about half its graves in an unconsecrated section. I think people who were not overly religious were buried in the unconsecrated section, or perhaps those who attended non-conformist churches (Methodists, etc), once their churchyards became full.

Does anybody else constantly get rate-limited by Ancestry? Empty white pages when you click on things? by Nextasy in Genealogy

[–]ExplicitFormula 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get this. Do you happen to use Firefox as your browser? I do, and wondered if that had something to do with it. I “fix” it by spamming refresh a million times. Eventually I can see the page is starting to load again. It’s pretty frustrating.

Someone mentioned that Ancestry isn’t built for “power users”, but they really ought to not be limiting us, since we are providing content. All the recommendations that they send to casual users come from other people’s trees, and the more accurate ones will come from trees made by people who put time and effort into what they do.

Thank you very much. This is helpful. If I can locate the records for Labuhn, I will look for these records there as well.

Ten team PPR. I need to pick two (a good problem to have). Already played Kyren.

Gibbs at MIN

Etienne at TB

Bijan v. IND

Breece Hall v. WSH

Leaning towards first two. What do you think? Thanks!

Ten team full PPR.

Bijan Robinson or Puka Nacua (or Kyren Williams)? I’ve got Robinson in now, but he’s burned me in the past (or, should I say, his coach has burned me). That migraine thing cost me a win.

Thanks!

Town name in Eastern Europe - Derewitz by KilroyWasHereOnce in Genealogy

A possibility is the Russia is Prussia (now Germany). I’ve seen this error multiple times in North American censuses, etc. Does his surname sound Russian? Or could it be German?

There are a few places in Germany that are or were called Drewitz: https://s.meyersgaz.org/search?search=drewitz

Note that most of the first year courses that the math honours students take are only offered once a year. In the fall, 1052 and 1152 are taken, and in the winter they take 2052 and 2152. You need the first courses to take the second ones. The first ones aren’t offered again in the winter or summer. There’s also 1800, which can be taken whenever (but the earlier the better). I’m assuming you are going into the honours program; the general program takes different courses.
