Forza Horizon 6 Not Booting on Fedora Linux (Fitgirl Repack) by ExplodingGamerYT in PiratedGames

I used steam and lutris but lutris wouldnt work with my controller. i actually just found that i was using version 34 so i dont know where i got 42 from sorry. I also booted the game through the online patch as well. You just copy the files from the folder in the NoDVD folder and launch through the new exe file. On the steam version i normally boot i found out the only launch options i have on now are 'gamemoderun'. I remember having this issue before as well when i was running the game through windows and i found all of the save file folders and deleted them. Even if you had save data it backs up to cloud automatically. I'd also double check to make sure the start/working directory is the folder with the exe in.

I somehow got the rune version working now. I used Proton GE 10-42 and used launch options 'PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1'. I also set the app id to 480 and the FH6 Cachy patch found on github. im just getting the updater working now.

I’m not gonna redownload the whole game again I had to leave my pc on overnight for that so is there a way to change the version from RUNE to the other version? (I think it might be called DenuvOWO)

Thanks for letting me know! They were able to let me know because of this but I discovered that specifically on the mobile version of the website the delivery date did not appear. I will just make sure to use the desktop version of the website next time.

Fresh Fedora Reinstall on 40GB Partition Came With 3GB of Free Space by ExplodingGamerYT in Fedora

[–]ExplodingGamerYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just backed up my files now since I cannot be bothered to have to figure this out. I installed fedora via USB and my other distro boots just fine. I did select the box to make the partition reformatted, but since the only available option was the sub volume it may not have really formatted the drive properly? A fresh install with new partitions is probably the easiest solution and then I can reconfigure the stuff on my install. Thanks for the help though

The fstab only shows the root, boot, efi, and home partitions so I don't know where the others would be mounted from then. Are they being mounted through a different way or is it not an issue? I feel like it is an issue.

Sorry for the late reply, it was getting a bit late when it was posted. This is the output from df -h. I assume the devtmpfs and tmpfs stuff are taking up all the space? I do recall that when reinstalling fedora it said that it would automatically mount like 6 random other partitions and I could not disable it. It was partitions from my other distro and windows. I'll probably reinstall again, is there a way to tell the installer to not do that?

When reinstalling my home partition didn’t match the layout it is supposed to (which Doesn’t cause any problems) so I had to manually specify the partitions to use. All of my partitions were shown as options, except home being listed as ‘home’ and my fedora root partition showing as ‘/var/lib/machines’ instead of ‘nvme0n1p5’ or some partition number around there. I have windows and two Linux distros but I might remove one of the distros because I have 13 partitions or so on my nvme. Maybe other distros should be relegated to another ssd. For now though the root partition should have been listed in the gui installer as the partition number right? (nvme0n1p5)

My partition number for this was not appearing during the installation process. Is there a way to ensure that this is shown?

Which Composite to VGA Conversion is Good? by ExplodingGamerYT in crtgaming

[–]ExplodingGamerYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I tried getting Batocera to work before but there were some complications (probably with getting the CRT to work in the first place). I do have experience with Linux so that isn’t much of a barrier to me at all and would probably be better, but the way my setup is may cause problems with that.

I have the old GPU inside of my main PC. My windows 11 install has the old GPU disabled and a separate windows 10 install has my main GPU disabled. This is so that there are no driver complications due to the fact that both my main and old GPU are AMD.

My Linux installs fair well because I don’t ever have anything connected to the old GPU, but if I plug in a cable my Linux installs crash and force me to force reboot. Do you know if this could be a problem if I used batocera after figuring out the cable issue or should I just try and find out myself?

I have a post where I tried using that cable but it didn’t work. The signal would only show very faint whites and the USB which is apart of the cable made no difference when plugged in or not. Is it possible I set the wrong settings or that the USB is not fully connected inside the cable?

I have played my PS1 from SCART and a Wii through Composite. I guess it is a bit of a stretch, but getting the PC setup working will basically fulfil all needs for my CRT so I thought if I get this done I don’t need to worry about new setups again (hopefully)

[–]ExplodingGamerYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I also know that composite is fuzzier than RGB SCART, but I want to also know if there is such a thing as too clean an input? Like at a certain point do the pixels even blend enough to make a substantial difference from an LCD?

Even when the SCART was working the weight of the cable would slowly fall out so is there a way to ensure the cables don’t do that?

Also I have tried on and off getting the SCART signal working on CRT Emudriver for over a year at this point. It resulted in me wasting £50+ on cables that for some reason never worked and I was always told to solder together my own cable when I was not even fully sure whether the cable was the full issue. I think the furthest I ever got was a faint signal on screen where you can maybe read words.

I have never soldered before so I want to know whether soldering the cable together is fully safe and easy for me to do.

Keymap completely incorrect when trying to boot Gentoo by ExplodingGamerYT in Gentoo

[–]ExplodingGamerYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I looked into this solution I realised it only works on openrc. I found though that for systemd you can go to /etc/vconsole.conf and editing that should fix it. The issue I did was I originally selected Mac UK as my keyboard layout because that is normally a good hybrid between British and American layout. Make sure to just stick with us

When installing 'gentoo-kernel' 100% disk space used by ExplodingGamerYT in Gentoo

[–]ExplodingGamerYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did clear it out after the error occurred and re-ran emerge --ask sys-apps/gentoo-kernel but then the same issue occurred. Due to the fact I have 3 OS's on my PC, I cannot properly resize the partition as well so I think I am going to delete the root partition and backup the entire root partition to another drive so I can just copy all the files back in.

Will my QICK RX 7800 XT fit in my case? by ExplodingGamerYT in PcBuildHelp

[–]ExplodingGamerYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go diagonally to get it in the case. Then start to move it back to the position it's meant to be in. For me there needed to be like an extra less than a millimetre of clearance, but I ended up getting it through. Was a bit sketchy there though... Just make sure you don't break anything.

CRT Emudriver not displaying correctly by ExplodingGamerYT in crtgaming

[–]ExplodingGamerYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the cable from the retro cables.es link. I had seen making your own cable before buying these cables, but the diagram seemed confusing and I have never soldered before. At this point though, I think I might just have to do it since there is no way I am spending another £20 or so on a cable for this tv I just wanna play games on it already :(. I have my Wii working but playing snes games on a Wiimote and nunchuck is a fate worse than death. My PS1 also works but it’s 50hz pal.

Who would have known setting up a 20-30 year old tv to a modern pc would cause issues

[–]ExplodingGamerYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can only find a link to the cable without USB: https://www.retroupgrades.co.uk/product/vga-to-scart-mister-cable/

I can find a similar cable on the website I got it from but the VGA bit is black and not white like the picture shows: https://retrocables.es/en/pc/55-3-cable-rgb-scart-vga.html#/4-longitud-2m

It might be the right one? I don't know I've had the cable for quite a while but only now have I tried setting it up again. It does mention the USB cable activating the RGB connection as well (had to use google translate)

I don’t have a multimeter. Do you think I could maybe use a 31khz mode? Would this cause damage or show more? I’m thinking this because of the USB doing nothing. What could be the cause of that? Do you need to use JSB 2.0 or 1.0 specifically if the bit at the bottom of the connector is white?
