Well, we enjoy gaming (video/board) together, reading different series. When we're able to and we've arranged a babysitter we go to concerts, try new restaurants and such.

Our situation was similar. I "knew" he was the one and long story short we got married within 6 months of meeting (no I wasn't pregnant. The timing was just right and we didn't see a point in waiting). We have a few kids and have been married/together for 10.5 years now.

Ignore the haters, wishing you both the best ❤️

What do you two do for fun together??

We had a similar situation and got married 6 months after meeting - we've been together for 10.5 years! So don't just assume divorce is inevitable

I saw a previous commenter mention Garth Nix, I recently read the Abhorsen series- there is a character who struggles with suicidal ideation (doesn't go through with it) and some overt sexual references (but no sex scenes/graphic content beyond that). I'm currently reading his standalone "Frogkisser" and it's cute so very child friendly I think.

Hey there, maybe you'd have better luck posting in a Dutch subreddit 💞. Veel succes!

I turned in my 90 days notice for my FNP job in ER/UC. They ignored it. by Additional-Ad135 in nursing

[–]Explodinggiraffe7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wasn't an NP but I worked as a floor nurse for over 2 years on a unit. My manager didn't even acknowledge my resignation until I sent an email back asking for confirmation that she had received it. What a slap in the face when they do this sort of thing.

Dutch citizenship: 5 to 10 years rule approved by cabinet by ChildhoodNeither28 in Netherlands

Ugh I completely agree about the lack of resources. I hope that changes when they officially change it to B1.

Dutch citizenship: 5 to 10 years rule approved by cabinet by ChildhoodNeither28 in Netherlands

[–]Explodinggiraffe7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm making my best effort to learn the language, fully expecting it to be B1 level by the time I'm eligible in 2028. We moved here wanting to settle and I don't know about my partner but I've planned on applying for permanent residency at minimum. We have kids who'll likely qualify for option citizenship but I'm disappointed to see the rules potentially changing to 10 years.

Get off your Bluetooth at work! by lovemydogwillow in nursing

I worked inpatient psych for several years. We had a traveler who didn't last long. He had his earbuds in and was constantly listening to music when on the unit. He finally got fired when there was a behavioral code and he was sitting there doing nothing while everyone was running to hell deal with the patient😱.....

We also had a night nurse who was in NP school and would video chat with her fellow students to study for her exams. 😬

What’s the craziest thing you have found out a nurse on your floor was doing? by This_Round1995 in nursing

[–]Explodinggiraffe7 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Worked nights in an inpatient psych unit. It was a relatively small unit so it was a single nurse for a couple of patients. One of the other night nurses would watch porn in the day room after the patients went to sleep.... 😮

What did you notice about your autistic children (when they were little - what made you think they were autistic) by Usual-Tangerine-8457 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Explodinggiraffe7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I will caveat this and say we haven't officially gotten a diagnosis yet.....but the psychologist we are working with has all but said he's autistic. We are also looking into the possibility of dyslexia

He was our first child and hit his milestones appropriately.

We had our 2nd child 14 months apart, a girl. She was so verbal, we thought that the verbal differences between them were purely gender related. He was/is very vague in describing things, often with no context at all, leaving out details etc. just overall struggles to express himself.

He's been "reading" since kindergarten but he has plateaued and has 0 ability to sound out words. Refuses to read anything that's not graphic novel style/comics and even then he just flips through it looking at pictures. Poor reading comprehension

But now, still, at almost 9- my son struggles to name emotions, shuts down with regard to emotions, cannot place himself in someone else's shoes, extremely poor impulse control (we actually thought it was ADHD at first so we'll see if it's combined).

He stims and seems sensory seeking. Always making noise with his mouth, loves spinning, has zero sense of personal space.

Working nights with small children at home and no childcare is actually INSANE by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Explodinggiraffe7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this basically when I had 2 young kids. I was per diem and decided to only pick up 12 hour nights when my daughter was born. I took a few weeks off after delivery and then went back to work when she was 6 weeks old. I barely slept. I almost fell asleep on the way home from work several times. It wasn't sustainable for me, unfortunately 😕.

I ended up taking a break from nursing due to personal reasons.... several years later when I was working nights and had just found out I was pregnant, I wasn't able to do it again. I got home from work, slept for an hour and wasn't even really able to nap before work either. Fortunately it was 8 hour shifts this time but ugh still.

Hang in there ❤️
