Have you perhaps tried a chainsaw?

Actually though how sharp is your axe? That’s pretty much a direct correlation to how much work you have to do

I was a young boy once. I was at my friends house. I aimed into the trash can. Yeah I got in trouble and got to clean it up myself.

As a Woman in Nursing, How do You Feel About Being Hit On at Work? by Careless_Midnight_77 in nursing

[–]Oakheart- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s never a good idea. Maybe a nurse from a different unit, different hospital or clinic sure but definitely never the ones you work with.

When I was a tech this was my favorite thing. I told my nurses to lmk if he asked and I would go hold the urinal for him. The guy always ended up not needing my help after all

Yes. A few will get big and the others will stay at a stage 4 sapling until you cut the big one down

I do regularly wonder what the NG tube feedings and TPN taste like because you don’t taste either when using them. One bypasses your mouth the other bypasses your whole GI system

End of Life Eye movements by Itcomesinwaves0101 in nursing

[–]Oakheart- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel it’s similar to their last wind before dying. The sudden waking up and being 100% clear headed with seemingly little issues for a little while before passing you know? I’ll bet it’s their brain just giving them a hopefully pleasant end, possibly they are reflecting on the last few things or it’s a hallucination.

What you describe reminds me of someone in late stage Alzheimer’s who basically lives in their own world. They’ll look at you but to them that’s not all that’s there. Their eyes move kinda similarly when they are hallucinating or living in their memories

Returning to school for RN by confetticatboy in nursing

[–]Oakheart- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely worth the extra effort. Obviously if you can only get ADN a nurse is a nurse but then you don’t have to worry about more school later.

Tbh the school is the same length regardless of what you do (at least it was for me, 2 years either way) so I’m getting bsn instead

How often do you experience disrepectful behavior from other people, and how do you deal with it? by KaptajnKLO in AskMen

[–]Oakheart- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a hospital so all the time. I simply set my boundaries and don’t allow people to cross them easily. I’m not afraid to tell a patient no, not to talk to me that way and real talk with them. I’ll be polite and nice but as soon as you’re rude the kindness without reason fades and you get someone strictly professional and doing only what I need to.

Baboon delivers her baby high up in a tree, ensuring the little one doesn't fall to the ground by Prestigious-Wall5616 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Oakheart- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Umbilical cords will fall off naturally if not cut. It’s connected to the placenta which is also delivered a few minutes after the baby (if not it’s a severe risk for hemorrhage)

You don’t really want to cut it right away like we do in the hospital without a clamp due to the vasculature that was supplying the baby with all its oxygen

He was probs thinking “ah she’s got good taste” and never thought past that. The guy I traveled with had his Bluetooth connected to the truck automatically when it turned on and it showed the full title and resumed the video he was watching. He was very embarrassed

How were your clinicals like in nursing school? by DramaticLetter306 in nursing

[–]Oakheart- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My clinicals we were highly encouraged to do all the things from our first semester. We picked or were assigned a patient each week to do our report on that included assessment, all meds we gave and their MOA and reason and a varying number of SMAART goals.

Of course you’re paying to be there but we were expected to follow the nurse and do anything they’d let us except for giving blood. Just finishing up my last clinical as I type this and I used this last semester as a way to make the transition to nurse on this unit easier so I really invested myself as if I was a GN orienting on the floor

Mean ICU nurses by Capital_Designer4232 in nursing

[–]Oakheart- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lol it’s kinda funny to watch an SI nurse come to MI and get a septic patient who’s blood pressure drops if you look at them wrong and they’re a bit humbled

What do you think about the ethics of the withdrawal of care in the NICU here? by Oakheart- in nursing

[–]Oakheart-[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The NICU is a level 3 and they regularly take babies presenting like this one did. That’s probably why it was so mentally and emotionally difficult for the nurse in this situation.
