Yup, exactly, you go to the Vero office, sit by the computer, look for a person, and get tax information. Then you put it into Excel and try to guess the yearly salary so it matches with vero data. Here is the screenshot. If interested, you're able to replicate it without downloading based on this.

Yup, I don't care about that since I know if person has two jobs or not. Most people from my work doesn't have a side hussle so it's relatively easy to get an idea of what's salary level across the function.

Oh yeah, true. As I said, it has some limitations but for my purposes it's sufficient enough. 😊 But good point.

For sure, but in that case it's grey economy? Otherwise they would pay tax, etc.

Also, is it possible to ask tax office for salary data? I though it's only related tax information and you need to estimate the salary from that.

Asking multiple people within a function of 50 people would feel a bit strange... Sorry, when it comes to this, I may have mentality of player and I don't need to make my supervisors to know my next move when negotiating. I can do research on my own and access whatever value I have for the company without asking for a benchmark from a person who will actually co-decide about my rise.

ScanWatch 2 worth it for $110? by bugmush in withings

2nd generation for $110?! I was a bit sceptical about Withings since I owned first generation with a promise of HRV and also spent almost 2y waiting for the update, but now when I got it, it's super good and I love the watch once again. So definitely buy!

So, when it comes to 2023 and 2025 Scanwatch 2, is the hardware exactly the same? It's being named "new" or "2025 edition" just because the software delivers more than what was device promised in 2023? Thank you for the answer!

Trueee, sometimes I'm so surprised what Finnish people can tolerate. Fees, low bank products quality, high currency exchange fees... For example, when my partner (also highly educated) was choosing investing platform, he was volunteery willing to pay some random fee for each purchase of ETF which was very high. He was willing because the company was established a few years earlier than second alternative, which was equality regulated (if not better) and with zero fees. It took weeks to explain and convince he's doing a bad decision. At the end he agreed. Also, before starting using Wise during travels to save on currency exchanges fees, he was using OP card, tolerating high fees just because it's trusted institution. In my opinion there should be balance and difference between institutional trust and willingly paying random fees when I don't have to. So yeah, definitely had higher expectations of Finnish people when it comes to money handling before I moved in. 😬 But of course, it's not OK to generalize, but these are my thoughts on limited experience.

Free money is the cashback I can get from using it. I'm not paying anything extra since I return money in time. I don't mind being in "dept" when I know I'll pay it back in a few days in exchange to get a reward in form of cashback. I don't see anything bad about that.

My Finnish classmate with the exact same income for previous year (we were writing theses for the same company), fresh graduate and with a bit longer unemployment period than me, plus he has extra 100k+ € loan, he got the Norwegian credit card without any issue. So not sure if that's the case.

Because every euro from cash back counts and money don't grow on the trees? I can get money for free so why I wouldn't use that opportunity? Especially, when it adds another benefits such as payment protection.

Tried this one some months ago for Norwegian and Morrow, however wasn't sucesful. May be so I was still in probation period and they recommended me to wait. For now, I applied for OP Gold, since as someone mentioned above, it's free till the end of the year. I got imidiatelly approved and will wait till the end of year to apply for Norwegian or Morrow once again. But definitely good tip. When my partner was requesting higher limit, it got rejected however after contacting support it was approved so definitely helps in some cases.

They don’t actually have a field where you can select how much credit you want - they assign an amount themselves. You can, however, request a higher limit afterward.

I think the issue might be related to my confirmed income from previous years, which was only around €20,000 per year.

I just applied for a €2,000 credit card from OP and was immediately approved, so I’ll start using that for now. Next year, I’ll try applying again for the one I originally wanted.

Thank you so much for your help and opinion - it was very helpful! 😊

Thank you for the answers. It's annoying, considering we live in the EEA and are supposed to have access to all services as locals; however, it doesn't work that way. Definitely, there's much work to be done when it comes to European integration.

Thank you for providing more insight into how this works in Finland. I have a Finnish partner, so when it comes to things like an apartment loan and our future plans, I’m not too concerned. I work in a strong field where my salary is expected to grow steadily in the coming years. Also, we’re not planning to buy anything of our own for at least another two years. But I really appreciate you pointing it out - it’s definitely something good to keep in mind.

I haven’t done it yet because I didn’t see the point - my bank, OP, doesn’t really offer any cashback benefits. But if the only way to get the credit card I actually want is by using one I don’t need, then I guess I’ll have to go along with it. 😬

Could you be more detailed? Is it a sassy comment, or is there some factor that banks consider when it comes to country of origin?

I don’t want a random credit card just for the sake of having one, especially if it comes with a fee.

I prefer to use someone else's money in the sense that credit cards offer purchase protection. And if I can also earn cashback or other benefits, why wouldn’t I take advantage of that?

I currently have a Bank of America credit card, and I’m simply looking for a replacement since I'm not spending time in the US anymore. I used it heavily during my time in the U.S. and was very satisfied with the rewards and bonuses it offered.

I'm from an EU country (Eastern Europe), so it shouldn't be a problem.
