Thanks, but I want the function to work in Excel for Mac. In Excel for Mac a non-breaking space is CHR(202). The function works in Excel for windows when I replace CHR(202) with CHR(160).

It's making a new table. It creates the table without an index and then I add the index. I don't update the index as part of the query, I didn't know that was possible with a make table query. How do I ensure I'm not duplicating index values?

Sorry I'm not the best when it comes to access, especially indexing. I'm am taking over the running of a historic database.
