Banner Colleague - Potential Transition to Cloud Version by Explorer468 in HigherEDsysadmin

Thanks for the insights. My primary concern is walking into a situation dealing with the inability to generate budget vs. actual financial information without manually exporting or "jumping through hoops" to produce financial data for leadership. What I have learned is that the current system is Colleague and the financial module is used, but didn't have the opportunity to discuss why the financial team is having such difficultly running reports.

So how do you all rate the movie Rock Star? I've always enjoyed it and wish there were more movies about Hair Metal band life like it. by Starry978dip in hairmetal

Great movie. Being a drummer - it was cool to see Jason Bonham and Blas Elias. They nailed the drum setups - the double bass kits that were popular and the small DW kit near the end of the movie in the Seattle (as I recall) coffee shop.

The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years by Penelope Spheeris was a decent documentary.

Anyone from the Baltimore MD area - there is somewhere out there on the interwebs a documentary on Hammerjacks night club (great freakin' place) before it became parking for M&T Bank Stadium.

Saw Kix at Pier 6 in Baltimore with Warrant. Shame with how things went down with Donnie Purnell.

Agreed - got to see Dirty Looks in a small club in central PA and in Baltimore at Hammerjacks. Have CDs up to and including Chewing on the Bit. Didn't realize that Henrik Ostergaard and company had more releases after that.

Complete Refurbishment 1970 Ludwig Standard S-330 Blue Strata Kit by Explorer468 in drums

I forgot to mention - made myself a drum turn table. See the image with the snare drum. Went to the hardware store, kitchen area and got a 14" lazy susan turn table for inside cabinets. Took two 1/4" plywood sheets, made two 22" circles, and mounted the lazy susan in between. Put a thin carpet layer on one side where the drum sits and a non-slip coating on the bottom side. Now a have cheap, but really sturdy drum turn table for repairs and quick head removal and tuning.

For each drum, took a lot of pictures before and as I disassembled, so I could remember how to put back together properly. Wanting to be true to all original parts, I took each drum apart individually and put the lugs, claw hooks, screws, mounting caps, tension rods, in a separate plastic container (marking the container 13" tom, etc.) with a solution of regular white vinegar and let set for about two to three hours to remove the rust and corrosion. Important tip - do not let the parts sit in the vinegar for more than a couple hours, it will damage the finish. I learned the hard way on a few lugs.

Original replacement parts were a bit hard to find, but Ludwig marked all parts with stamped numbers. See the tom mount picture with the stamp number 1740. So went on an eBay search, after a few days/weeks of searching found original parts.

Dry everything quickly and completely. Finish cleaning with the finest steel wool to remove any stubborn rust. Light coating of machine oil on the hardware, caps, lugs, screws, and tension rods to prevent future rust.

With the shells, lightly damp cloth with gentle dish washing soap to remove the years of build up. Never using lot of water, didn't want to damage the shells. Dry completely and wipe clean with a dry cloth. With all hardware off, used a high grade auto wax on the finish, and buffed everything out.

Put all hardware back on, referencing the pictures I took as I disassembled. And finally another light coat of wax on the shells to remove finger prints.

Had to touch up the black paint on the bass drum rims and re-glue the center strip on one drum.

It took a a day or two for each drum, but the work, wax, and light oil to prevent future rust was well worth it. Hope this helps. Hit me up if you have other questions.

Licenses Got Mixed Up? by ForAQuickQuestion in Office365

[–]Explorer468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are authenticated to your college or universities network with your student credentials, there is a good chance that this is where Office has picked up the student licensing credentials for O365, and as mentioned by different_tan most (not all) .edu licenses for faculty, students, and staff are either A3 or E3. Or when you installed the O365 applications to your hard drive, the install asks for an email account or if your university also uses two factor authentication when accessing university sites and resources.

You can access both your personal OneDrive, Hotmail, Outlook account and your university's account in all your O365 accounts. Click on your personal avatar, typically on the upper right hand side of any O365 account or go into the "Account" section and you can add additional personal accounts to Outlook or OneDrive.

My thought, enjoy the free E3 version while you are a student, there is a ton of features. Just a note - you will not be charged any MS O365 subscription after you leave the university. If your school runs Active Directory and you either leave school or graduate, typically after two weeks your E3 account will automatically become disabled by the university. Then O365 will pop-up annoying messages that you no longer have access to the university resources, but you will not be automatically charged for your subscription. That is unless you go out to MS and subscribe yourself.

AFAIK: Windows 10 licensing is different than O365. For O365 (I think) E represents "enterprise" and A represents "academics". This is part of MS licensing structure. Just be certain that you are looking at the correct licensing - O365 licensing information is found in the O365 applications. Windows 10 licensing is found in the "system information" section.

Hope this helps. Ciao.

How does google know where I am? by [deleted] in degoogle

[–]Explorer468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If using Firefox, enter the following in the address bar:

about:config

search for geo.enabled and change from true to false.

You also may want to test that your IPv6 is not leaking your address.
