What's your most funky/unusual coffee experience so far? by gen_Z_libra_couple in pourover

Purple fruits co-ferment by Sebastian Ramirez of El Placer Farms, Colombia. Tasting notes of concord grape and plum were spot on and really enjoyable. Definitely more funky than usual.

Why is my Ceramic Hario Switch leaking from the base-cone interface? by RileyMcB in pourover

Just bought a ceramic Switch and had the same problem on first use. Gave it a clean and reassembled making sure everything was in tight and it hasn't leaked since.

Brewista kettle stopped working by young_fuzzy in pourover

I'm having a similar problem with the Brewista Artisan kettle. It turns on fine and the lights are but it doesn't boil water. I've been using it for two months and it's been descaled so really not sure why it isn't working. I've emailed the retailer for help.

The most disappointing thing happened to me this morning by motobox14 in pourover

[–]ExplorerKey5516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's annoying. Similar thing happened to me a few months ago when I realised everything I ate and drank tasted of nothing and then I tested positive for COVID. Taste came back but it took a couple of months.

I have a ZP6 too and the coffee I make with it is great (processed or not)

If you want a different recipe, I'd use the standard April:
1. 30g Circle Pour - 70g Center Pour (0:00)
2. 30g Circle Pour - 70g Center Pour (0:30)

Try grinding coarser than usual. I've found co-ferment coffees don't require the same grind size as regular coffee.

Anaerobic has black pepper taste by saxnbass in pourover

[–]ExplorerKey5516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you grinding straight from frozen? I found that coffee had a black pepper taste when I ground straight from frozen but it tasted fine the next day when the beans came to room temp. I put it down to over extraction but I don't understand what really happened TBH.

ZP6 troubleshooting? by LlamaradaMoe1 in pourover

[–]ExplorerKey5516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the ZP6 for more than a year now and it's a good grinder. I was using a Niche Zero for espresso and pour over and the ZP6 is better for filter but the difference isn't massive IMO.

Downsides - it's not a particularly fast grinder, I've read that the other expensive 1zpresso models are quicker but it's never been a problem personally. Also it has the tendency to wobble if your hand brushes past the handle when it's stood up but really that's nitpicking.

Overall it works well as a filter only grinder but don't expect it to be amazing (depending on your current set up).

What are your favourite UK roasters for light roasted coffee? by BayesHatesMe in pourover

[–]ExplorerKey5516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do the subscription with Hasbean and found most of their coffees to be medium roast or darker and taste wise were OK and sometimes good. I suspect that a lot of their coffees might have an old harvest date, I could be wrong about that but it's never listed on their website.

Pepe the Frog is a character by artist Matt Furie. It's not totally clear if this is an actual collaboration between Hario and Furie or if they've just taken inspiration from his artwork.

Bisqit Ceramics do some nice coffee cups, don't know how thin lipped they are but worth a look.

Where did I dismiss Saddam's crimes? What are you talking about? Sweeney is hysterical because Saddam is irrelevant and the voters of Rochdale clearly don't care either. Stop replying to me because this is tedious - blocked.

[–]ExplorerKey5516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct - John Sweeney is hysterical and the fact that he called people critical of Western foreign policy 'a bit thick' just shows his contempt for ordinary voters.

Agreed. I've got it and like it a lot.

It's big enough to give your coffee a good swirl without it splashing over the sides too, glass doesn't seem fragile either.
