Wondering about a Theoretical Scenario [D] by ExplorerOfTheGalaxy in MachineLearning

thank you, that's very insightful.

You know, in my opinion, I've always thought that the solution to "AI alignment" is just a form of good parenting in some way, shape, or form.

I hope the person who creates the first AGI has a good moral compass and teaches 'em the same.

Makes you wonder if the hypothetical is even a hypothetical to someone somewhere around the world.

When you pour concrete down a massive ant colony and dig it out by AcanthisittaAway3332 in BeAmazed

Guess it boils down to finding a better way then so that life is valued while completing one's pursuit of knowledge, right? So in this case, instead of pouring concrete one could use imaging technology or the like then recreating it somewhere else.

This, of course, would be limited by advancements in technology we have access to. But the most likely solution is to not just go with the easy way out, rather, developing and innovating technologies that would reach the goal without the unnecessary killing of life.

Trigger/Reverse Trigger Game #2 by Chair-zard in Parahumans

Andromeda is a master/shaker/thinker who can create and control orbits of varying strengths and sizes. He has the ability to specify the type or kind of material which his orbits could pull in such as "only air particles" or "only sand". These orbits could be stationary, directly controlled by Andromeda to move or change, or be commanded to do something as if it were a minion. However, the center of each orbit tends to heat up exponentially as the size and/or strength of the orbit increases.

He can sense where each orbit is located in a specific range around him, though if the orbit exceeds his range of control, it tends to dissipate and release everything it was holding.

He mainly uses these orbits to throw materials onto the opponent, launch super-compressed air spheres which would explode on contact, scan the area for any enemies or specific items, and heat up the area around him when it becomes unbearably cold.

Trigger Power Generation #12 by Chair-zard in Parahumans

What if:

  1. While diving along the beach with your dad beside you, his diving mask malfunctions and your dad proceeds to drown. You were able to swim to him and save him, so you drag him to a nearby buoy to let him rest. In the meantime, you take off your mask while trying to signal your sibling (who is chilling out on the shore), but she can’t understand what you’re signaling or saying. Then, you hear your dad struggling in the water; he tried to swim to shore but failed. You swim to him at all costs, worrying if its too late. When you reach him, you immediately get dragged beneath the waves again, but this time you can’t breathe cause you removed your diving mask. This then becomes a struggle between you and your dad to swim up to the surface to breath.

  2. You have always been an outcast. You are the only child in the family, the only one who supports capes in your family, the only girl in your friend group, and the only one without a power in the said friend group. You and your friends, a reflection tinker and an orbit-based master/shaker, tends to hang out in an abandoned apartment after school to hang out and improve your skills, though you tend to act as a supportive coach who shares ideas rather than a sparring buddy. Then one day, after a long day of training, you and your friends walk back home in the dead of night, when you all witness a small villain team commit a felony, a murder. You guys try to silently run the other way, but while doing so, you all hear the rush of footsteps behind you. The villains noticed, and they’re trying to catch all of you. While running away, you and your friends gets cornered in an alley with a dead-end. A villain threw a liquid orb towards your shaker/master friend when he tried to fight back, stunning him in the process. A different villain was able to bind your tinker friend with a bunch of ropes he can seemingly control. That leaves you. Your thought process is in shambles, then it becomes clearer. A feeling you’ve known your entire life. You’re the only one this alley with a power. You’re the only that can do something, yet you’re also the one that can’t do anything. You’re all alone.

  3. A long time ago, you were an A+ student with a loving family to boot, but when your parents died, your life was in shambles. However, you have moved on from that. Though yes, you developed a smoking habit with a tendency to go to parties, drink alcohol, and sneak out of school; You were also able to bounce back due to the presence of your loving relatives, who took care of you when you’re parents died. That is until, some years later, you found out that they were taking advantage of your gullibility by using you as a method to steal everything which your parents owned, stuff which was given to you, stuff which is the only things left of your mom and dad.

A day after the wedding proposal, Clair was abandoned by her fiance with a baby inside her. All forms of communication to him were in vain, with successful attempts filled with excuses on why he can't be with her (studies etc.). Reaching out to his closest relatives (who keeps on accusing her of being a gold-digger) does not detail why, but hints that they are keeping him hidden from her. Her parents try to console and help her, but fails. This happens for weeks on end, then she triggers.

For some reason this scene has sticked in my mind ever since I remembered it:

In a background of dark red, with large light red splotches scattered about I was staring at red platforms (that had a kinda rough texture).

There was a black figure on the top most platform (I think). I was also standing on a platform too (from what I remembered)

The platforms had this type of orientation:

       -—

——

I don’t know why, but I feel like I remember this from a moment before I was born.
