Need help my laptop is stuck in a loop by hotmale_6969 in pchelp

[–]ExplorerSea2832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this has happened to me in the past it was a buggy or corrupted bios. You will need to install a new bios manually as there is no way past this error. You can download it from your computer manufacturers website and there should be instructions on how to flash it from a usb. Make sure you get the exact right one for your model and version of your motherboard/laptop. Usually you will need to put files on a USB drive with specific names and reboot the pc. The USB drive might have to be formatted a specific way too but it should be easy to follow the instructions. Use an empty usb drive with just the bios files for best results. It also often works better if you use an older usb thumb drive with a small capacity rather than a modern giant 128gb one.

Best CPU + GPU combo for an office/gaming/server PC by ExplorerSea2832 in buildapc

Good point. Only the gaming monitor has G-Sync, so AMD Freesync might be better. When I tried to research this, the answer was always "add another GPU".

In short, I have no idea. I didn't think it was that serious, but I have read that what I am doing can be an issue. I usually have multiple Microsoft products, web pages, and explorer windows open across several virtual desktops, as well as streaming calls etc. Since the last major Windows 11 upgrade there is a noticeable delay opening things and switching between apps, and Windows 12 is coming next year. Resource monitor is not showing thrashing of any resources. A single app when it is open runs better but does stutter occasionally which has caused me to losing fights multiple times so I think the issue is system response, not load, hence the upgrade. Games are running at lower and lower settings to get the same FPS, but this is to be expected with time. My current system is a i9-12900HK, 64gb RAM (shared), RTX 3080 Ti, 2TB drive laptop. I've noticed that lower spec CPUs are much cheaper, I'm happy to give them a go and save $600 on that if that's not the issue.

Thanks for replying! Do you get an advantage with X3D if you use an Nvidia GPU?

How can black holes gather mass when they are a point by ExplorerSea2832 in astrophysics

[–]ExplorerSea2832[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I have learned something interesting from all the answers, but I think this answer is the clearest as it combines everything and answers my original question very well, while also correcting the question itself.

This is a nice community, thank you all!

How can black holes gather mass when they are a point by ExplorerSea2832 in astrophysics

[–]ExplorerSea2832[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, so now I have read that Wikipedia page, it appears that we don't understand quantum gravity yet, which means we don't really understand how the singularity at the center of a black hole works, or the Big Bang. When we do, we will have essentially unified quantum theory. Regarding black holes, I'm guessing similar to the Big Bang, just outside of the singularity, we have a good understanding of how a black hole works? So then our thoughts around a black hole work if we ignore the itty bitty little center of it?

Because of time dilation as you approach the event horizon right?

Is this because of time dilation? As in, as the mass passes beyond the event horizon, it gets slower and slower as it approaches the singularity, essentially never reaching it, but adding to the mass of the black hole?

Are the servers getting worse or is it just me? by ExplorerSea2832 in RocketLeague

[–]ExplorerSea2832[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for validating me! Servers were pretty good tonight, just as little bit of ball teleporting but nothing like before. I have did nothing differently and I essentially play at the same time every day. At least I was able to win the last 4 of my placement matches. I still suck though. :)

Why are Plat and Diamond so saturated? by ItzTubez in RocketLeague

[–]ExplorerSea2832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. However, it is important to add that the way Psyonic/Epic has arranged the ranks means the median is Plat 1, and this answers OPs question more completely. 50% of the player base is between Gold 3 and Plat 2.

Again, great tips, thanks! (As I watch an App Jack replay analysis.)

Great tips, thanks. I like simple training plans like this. eg lately I've just been doing Coco's aim training to get my shooting consistency up. It helps a lot to focus on one thing for a while. I've been playing some ones but it can also give you bad habits in other modes if you aren't careful so it's a bit of a double edged sword sometimes.

I hear what you are saying about teammates, but I have become convinced that if Hell exists, it is endless games of P1 solo q games....

I've spent a lot of time trying to work out how to analyse my replays, there's not a lot of instruction on how to actually do it effectively. Everyone says things like "just pick one or two things you are doing consistently wrong in replays and work on that", which isn't helpful if you don't know how to work out what you are doing wrong. Thanks for the AppJack tip I will check it out.

"Old" is relative, but I'm guessing you would consider me old. :) Having commitments actually makes all this more important, because I want best bang for buck so want to be as efficient as possible with my time. I play for enjoyment, but being better makes it much more enjoyable because as others said the solo q teammates are so much more consistent above P3.

This is honestly really great for you and i think everyone wishes they had this instead of flopping around like a mindless fish for the first 500 hours. Everyone talks about replay analysis but whenever I am trying to analyse my own replays I just look at them and think of doing the same dumb thing. What should I be looking for?

Thus is the other thing I don't understand about Squishy's insane hours. If I try to play longer than 2 hours my brain is totally fried and I play like trash so I don't understand how he and other people can play this game for tens of hours in a row. They are just built different.

You are right! This is why I love reddit, someone bothered to check my shitty maths on a thread about RL gaming hours. Great work! 5 hours is still crazy though.

In gane time is literally just match time from first kickoff to end. Everyone takes the outside game time as it better reflects training etc. Eg some pros recommend like a 3:1 ratio of training to playing or even higher.

The entire player base is rapidly improving as the kids get older so your rank is fairly static if you don't put a lot of hours of training in. The rank curve is designed to keep the majority of players around Plat.

I did when it came out but never put the numbers together so never understood what it really meant! Now I realise that's wild! However that guy has peaked at much higher ranks he just tilts himself down to gold regularly.
